Obituary: Velta Anne Edrington, 82, of Punta Gorda, Florida passed away , 5, 2015 at Life of Punta Gorda. She was born 31, 1932 in Decker, Indiana to the late John D. and Grace Manning and moved to Punta Gorda from California when her husband retired from the military. Velta was a widowed Air Force spouse and retired educator, teaching in public elementary schools for many years. She was a Methodist. Survived by her loving family, two sons, Paul G. Edrington of Warner Robins, GA and Robert S. Edrington of Pasco, WA; two sisters, Ree Morrison and Maxine Julian both of Princeton, IN; and 5 grandcildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lt. Col. Paul K. Edrington, USAF retired, who died in 2011. Memorial services will be held at a later date. Inturnment will be in Arlington National , Arlington, VA. Memorial contributions may be made to: Shriners Hospital of Portland , OR. by Roberson & Crematory Punta Gorda Chapel. |

Obituary: Lt. Anna Kaseta Edrington, United States Navy Nurse Corps was a member of the Greatest Generation. She was born in Elizabeth, N.J., 29, 1916. She was a child of the Great Depression and graduated from nursing school in 1938. She worked at Elizabeth General Hospital then joined the U.S. Navy in 1940. She received orders and traveled by convoy to Pearl Harbor 90 days after the Dec. 7th attack that started WWII in the Pacific. She and her fellow nurses treated the soldiers and sailors who were wounded in the numerous Pacific campaigns. She met Ensign Harold Edrington at the U.S. Naval Hospital in Philadelphia in 1944 and they eventually married in 1945 at the U.S. Naval Hospital, Dublin, Ga. She resigned her commission and became a Navy wife for the next 58 years. Her first child, Thomas, was born at the Naval Hospital on Coco Solo Naval Base, Panama Canal Zone in 1949. Her second child, Janet arrived in 1952 at the Naval Hospital, Annapolis, MD. She returned to private duty nursing in 1964 and worked as a private duty nurse until she was well into her 70s. She and her husband, the late Capt. Harold Edrington, lived in Southern Pines, N.C., until his death in , 2003. She lived the final years of her life in Tampa, Fl., the final eight spent at the home of her son. She loved her country, the U.S. Navy, her family and friends. She is survived by her sister, Marie Kleiner of Flemington, N.J., son Thomas of Tampa and daughter Janet of North Palm Beach, grandchildren Courtney and Rickie. She loved her country, her family her friends, the U.S. Navy, Duke basketball, AmVets Post 4 and her son’s Florida Executive Realty family. The final days of her life were spent at her home, where she wanted to stay. She passed away quietly on 11, 2015, a month short of her 99th birthday. |

Obituary: Lise Edouard, 89, of Punta Gorda, Florida passed away , 17, 2011 at Charlotte Harbor care in Port Charlotte. She was born 28, 1921 to her parents, Gudiecia and Alphonse Dovilier in Haiti. Lise and Saint Armand moved to Port Charlotte in 1990 from Brooklyn, NY. Lise work for many years at Bellview Hospital in New York City before retiring to Florida. Member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Port Charlottte. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother, she will be missed but not forgotten. Survived by her loving husband of 59 years of marriage, Saint Armand Edouard of Punta Gorda; a son, Erue Edouard and a daughter, Danielle Laguerre both of Punta Gorda; a grandson, Jerry R., Laguerre of Michigan. Visitation will be held 6:00PM to -8:00 PM , 23, 2011 at Roberson Punta Gorda Chapel 215 Mary Street.
