Obituary: Elizabeth Soyring Eaton was born to Nestor and Lempi Soyring 19, 1927 in South Range, Michigan in the Upper Peninsula. was proud to be a “Yooper” (a native or inhabitant of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan). She was extremely close to older sister Eleanor and younger sister Dorothy throughout their lives and across the miles. Her family was brought up in the Finnish Evangelical Lutheran Church and immersed in Finnish culture and language. All of her great grandparents and grandparents were born in Finland. Later in life she visited Finland, and attended many FinnFests around the US. Christmas and Easter, her favorite holiday was St. Urho’s Day, 16th. was known for her purple cake and juice, and gleefully repeating “Heinäsirkka, heinäsirkka, mene täältä hiiteen." Most of ’s childhood was spent in Suo where her grandparents homesteaded. She had many fond memories of country life with her large extended family, including cold winters and hot saunas. graduated from Houghton High School in 1945, the valedictorian of her class. She worked as a secretary for five years before her marriage to Tim Eaton. and Tim met at a basketball game at Michigan Tech. Their first double date lasted three days due to being snowbound in -40 degree weather. were married on 22, 1951 and made their first home in Alexandria, VA in a trailer. Both and Tim worked for the CIA in Washington DC before an overseas assignment to Formosa (now Taiwan) in 1953. Children Fred and Sharon were born overseas, and their third child Jonathan was born when they moved to Seattle and Tim began work at Boeing. were married for 61 years! worked as the church secretary at Peace Lutheran for nine years, starting in 1961 after Jon started kindergarten. Then she went to work with the State of Washington Employment Security Department/Office of Administrative Hearings until retirement. was active for many years in the Rebecca Circle and choir at Peace. She loved World Cavalcade, 5th Avenue Theater shows, dining all over Seattle, and family celebrations. She was known for her lemon squares and Finnish pasties, picnics at Lake Kayak and delicious birthday cakes. Although ’s first flight on a plane was to Formosa, over the years and Tim became avid world travelers. Finland and the Holy Land were two of their favorite destinations. also made many cross country trips back to Michigan, Massachusetts and Nova Scotia. A local favorite destination was their property at Lake Kayak near Duvall. The Eatons were known for their hospitality and were fine Seattle tour guides innumerable times. The Eatons had a “dorm” room in the basement for the grandsons. passed away in hospice care at Florence of Seattle 27, 2017. She was preceded in death by son Jonathan and husband Tim. is survived by her daughter Sharon Eaton (Seattle), son Fred and daughter-in-law Kris Field-Eaton (Tigard, OR) , and beloved grandsons Cameron Field-Eaton (Ontario, CA), Sean Field-Eaton (Waipahu, HI), Colin Field-Eaton and wife Sarah Cardillo (La Jolla, CA) and many much loved friends and relatives. Obituary: Judy J Eaton, 69, of Yakima passed away peacefully early morning, , 17th, 2013 in Yakima. Ms Eaton was born 15, 1944 in Yakima to Roy Dawson and Jean Wishard (Anderson) Patterson. Ms Eaton retired from the Selah School District after 30 years as a PARA Professional. Throughout her career she formed many long, enduring friendships with co-workers. She treasured her job working with special needs children. She also worked for DSHS and had long term clients that she cared for and cherished. Judy truly enjoyed playing the guitar, her mothers organ, and writing songs. She loved spending time in the mountains at the family cabin; fishing and watching the river go by, along with floating the Yakima River with friends. Judy was quite an accomplished woodcarver as well; her favorite subjects were beautiful birds. She also looked forward to planning class reunions for Highland Scotts with her lifelong friend Nadine Groenig/Stillwaugh. Survivors include two daughters Lori Johnson of Yakima, WA. Shari Johnson of North Bend, WA. Two sisters Barbara Bobby McLemore of Prosser, WA. Gale (Pat) Vachon of Yakima, WA and a brother Dale Patterson of Naches, WA. Nieces Julie Schlaman, Tonya Stone. Nephews Tom McLemore, Robert McLemore and Matt Vachon, along with many cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents Dawson and Jean Patterson of Tieton, WA. Her protective nature made people respect her, she will be missed by family and friends that loved her dearly, especially her spoiled pets that she referred to as her kids. Visitation and viewing will be tonight at Keith & Keith from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Graveside services will be conducted tomorrow 21, 2013 at 10:00 AM in the Terrace Heights Memorial Park. Obituary: Eaton, Jeannette (Age 62) Jeannette Eaton went home to be with her Lord on 31, 2010. She was born to Clarence and Lorraine Rattray on 5, 1948. She married John Quaschnick. had two children, David and Gayle. The couple later divorced. In of 2000, she married Kevin Eaton. She had a variety of jobs including working at Camp Fire, Blacks Industrial, and Spokane Transit as a driver for five years. She later worked for Spokane Friends Church as a secretary. She was preceded in death by her father, Clarence, in 2000. She is survived by her mother, Lorraine; her husband, Kevin; children, David (Charlene) Quaschnick, Gayle (Mike) Gracio, step daughters Bonny Eaton, Juli (Kerry) White; brothers, Wayne (Bobbee) Rattray, Larry (Beth) Rattray; and daughter Joyce Nelson; grandchildren Trevor and Conner Gracio, Josh (Carolin) Radford, Joel (Sharalee) Radford and Avery White; great grandchildren, Mary Radford, Johnny Simmons and Andy Radford; and many cousins, nephews and nieces.
