Obituary: Alma John Erekson 1938 ~ 2014 West Valley City--Alma John Erekson, 76 of West Valley City, Utah passed away, , 2, 2014. John was born 29, 1938 in Salt Lake City, Utah, the son of Alma Owen and Frances Penelope Rushton Erekson. He attended Jordan High School and graduated from Brigham Young University in 1965 with a Bachelors of Arts in German and a minor in History. John served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints to the West German Mission from 1958 to 1961. He continued his love for the German language by teaching it in the Language Training when it first opened in Provo. He loved learning languages, and was working on Italian at the time of his death. He operated his mink ranches in Butler and Draper, Utah. He later worked as a salesman for Valley View in West Valley City. John married Michelle Marie Grane on 30, 1965 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. were married 48 years. He was a writer and grand story teller. He had a love for teaching and taught Gospel Doctrine for over 25 years, only taking time away to serve in a bishopric and as a member of the stake high council. He served as a worker at the Jordan River Temple when it first opened.John loved his family. His children were his top priority. He is survived by his dearly loved wife Michelle - he fought through a life of illness to be by her side. He is survived by his children, John Stephen (Lisa) Erekson, James Alma (Nancy) Erekson, Jennifer Michelle (Jed) Knudsen and Eric Nathan (Sallie) Erekson. His grandchildren; Christina (Cris) Bowler, Amberlea Erekson, Sara Erekson, John White Erekson, Isabela Jude Erekson, Laura Erekson, Lille Alice Knudsen, William Benbow Erekson, Alma Jude Erekson, Charles Franklin Jens Erekson, Olivia Grace Knudsen, Joseph Young Erekson, Lucky Pearl Erekson, Dane Kevin Knudsen and Jack Henry Knudsen. One great grandson, George Christopher Bowler. A sister, Penelope Diane (Royal Kent) Walker and a brother, Tim Meredith Erekson.He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Owen Rushton Erekson, a sister Marie Hiatt and three grandchildren, Jessie Sunshine Erekson, Aigen Conner Erekson and Mabra Olivia Knudsen.Services will be held , 6, 2014 at 12:00 Noon in the Memorial LDS Ward Chapel (4251 South 4800 West, West Valley City). The family will meet with friends at Larkin Mortuary on , 5th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM and again at the Memorial Ward Chapel on , 6th from 10:30 to 11:45 AM. Obituary: Marian Campbell Ercanbrack Marian Campbell Ercanbrack, a grand lady, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on 12, 2008, at the age of 93. She was loved and cherished by her family and friends. She always made everyone feel like they were the most important people in her life. She was born in Provo, Utah, on 14, 1915, to Orson Dewsnup Campbell and Anna Mary Pearce. She had a fiesty and fun personality and a real zest for life. She met LaMar R. Ercanbrack when she was 14 and there was no other man that ever interested her. were married 6 years later on 17, 1936, in the Salt Lake Temple. were happily married for 63 years until he passed away in 1997. were blessed with three children, David LaMar (Lucy) Ercanbrack of Orem, Deanne Dani Ercanbrack of Orem and Marilee (Gregory) Jolley of Provo. Marian lived in Provo most of her life. She spent a few years growing up in St. George while her father taught art at Dixie . There she learned to love nature. One of her favorite memories was packing a picnic and putting it in the back of their Model T Ford and going to Zions Park where she loved to watch her father paint beautiful landscapes. She had three older brothers, Leland Orson , Elmo Pearce, Benjamin Grant and two younger sisters, Wanda C. Bartholomew and Juanita C. Burns. were great companions growing up. She attended BYU and LDS Business college. On completion of her secretarial training, she began working for the Utah Agricultural Office. She also worked for the Provo School District as a secretary in the superintendents office. She was dearly loved and respected by those she worked with. As her children were growing up she was active in the PTA where she served as State President of that organization. She was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers and served for several years as president of the North Utah . She was an avid member of the 4-H Club where as a young woman she achieved several state and national awards. She served in the capacity of club leader and leader-trainer for many years. She had many interests and talents. She loved horses and was an accomplished horsewoman. She belonged to the Timp Saddliers, a womans riding club in Orem that competed and performed at local rodeos and parades. Marian was a talented seamstress. She could sew up a dress that rivaled any store bought frock. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting and each of her grandchildren and great grandchildren have received a hand knitted afghan. She loved to piece fabric for quilt blocks and was an expert quilter. She loved to read and even though her eye sight was waning, she used a magnifying glass to assist her. She read all of the Standard Works of scripture with her magnifying glass. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Chris of Latter-day Saints. She served faithfully as a visiting teacher for 80 years without missing a single month. She served in leadership callings in Primary, Young Women, and Relief Society and was called to be on the Young Womens General Board. She enjoyed serving in all of her callings but one of her favorites was reading to the Primary children when she was in her 80s. She was grateful to serve in the Mt. Timpanogos Temple as a ordinance worker. She treasured that calling and those she associated with. Marian has lived a life of service. She loved the Savior and had a strong testimony that has touched the lives of all of us. This valiant servant was faithful and endured to the very end. We celebrate her life and cherish her legacy. She is survived by her children, 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren, one sister, Juanita Burns. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Jason Brady Jolley, her brothers and sister. services will be held at 11 a.m. , 17, 2008, at Vermont 1st Ward Chapel, 400 North 400 East, Orem. Family and friends may call evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Walker Sanderson , 646 East 800 North, Orem and morning from 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to the services at the church. Interment will be held at the Provo City . |
