Obituary: Please run , 6, 2010, in paid obit with PHOTO Louie Richard Evans, 90, passed away 2, 2010 at a local hospital. Louies early years were spent in Lubbock, Texas prior to his family moving to Austin where he attended Austin High School. He then moved to Corpus Christi to work for his stepfather who had the heating and air conditioning contract for the Robert Driscoll Hotel. During World War II he served in the United States Navy, Fleet Air Wing Four, in the North Pacific with duty in the Aleutian Islands. The majority of his service time was spent on the Island of Attu. Upon discharge he returned to work at the Naval Air Station, Corpus Christi, and remained until the Overhaul and Repair closed. He entered private business and had the pleasure of working in the homes of many wonderful Corpus Christi residents as he built whatever they needed. His creative work with the native woods, mesquite, huisache and ebony helped him make lasting friendships with many who bought his hand crafted boxes. His sales were only to support his hobby. Louie was an active member of Calvary and Lindale Baptist Churches where he served as a deacon for many years. He loved children and youth which permitted him to have a positive influence upon the lives of many. He was predeceased by his parents, Frank Evans and Lena Young; sisters, Opal Morriss, Alline Davidson, Helen Cochran; and brothers, Paul and Earl Evans. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Lucy Nell Evans, and a number of nieces and nephews. He had a special place in his heart for Col. (Ret.) and Mrs. James E. Obituary: LOTTIE BETTY FOYT EVANS Allodie Betty Foyt was born in a farmhouse in the Czech community of Fayette , Texas, on 15, 1925. She was the 2nd child born to Bertha and Joe Foyt. Farm life was not easy for Lottie, or her older sister Pearl or her younger brother Harry. Lottie often said that Pearl had the hardest life, because she was in charge of her younger siblings. While the children helped to pick cotton and work the farm, her mother and dad picked cotton for neighboring families. All was not work for the Foyt family. Time was set aside on the weekends to enjoy music and dance at the local Czech dance halls. In fact, at one of those dances, a young Lottie Foyt met a boy one year her senior, the son of a local rancher and constable from a neighboring community. Romance was in the air, even as World War II continued. On 26, 1942, an eighteen year old Lester and seventeen year old Lottie married with her older sister Pearl and husband Davis Cejka serving as witnesses. Lottie left the farm and followed her husband as the Marine Corp assigned him to camps in North Carolina and Oklahoma. It was at this time that Lottie found that city life agreed with her. The years passed with Lester taking a job with R J Reynolds Tobacco that would move them throughout Texas. Their first child Bonnie was born in Brenham and later Jay and Renee were born in Beaumont. During these early years, Lottie would face the death of her older sister Pearl, taken by cancer, and her younger brother Harry, taken by a heart attack. In those years Lottie and Lester were filled with the joy that children bring to a family, but learned the harsh realities of lifes tragedies with the deaths of her siblings. During this time when she was heartbroken over the losses, she found strength to support and comfort her parents and offer assistance to her siblings young families as they faced the road ahead. Lottie and Lesters love of family and their strong Catholic faith were tested through these early years and would later give them the strength of character to face other challenges ahead. Life in San Antonio fit the personality of Lottie as she enjoyed making their home a warm and inviting place for her husband, children and friends. Card games like poker and bridge, holiday celebrations, and family dinners were a source of much joy for her. Her language of love was the dessert specialties that she made on those special occasions. Her kitchen was filled with intoxicating sweet smells coming from the oven and beautiful African violets lining the window sill above her kitchen sink. As the years progressed, Lotties parents passed on peacefully and marriages were celebrated: daughter Bonnie married Leonard Seelig, Jr., Jay married Karen Maddux, and Renee married Greg Schwartz . In 1991 Lottie lost her husband Lester of almost 49 years to a heart attack. The man who sent her a dozen red roses every anniversary and gave her that special hug and smile of a soul mate left to hold her place in heaven. The years alone were challenging, but Lottie proved again her strength and kindness. Her friends enjoyed sharing memories of Lottie at her 80th birthday. spoke often of her kindness as an attentive listener and a gracious and supportive friend. The joy she found in her relationships with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren was seen by all. For the grandchildren close by, she enjoyed attending their sports and special events. For those children farther away, she became a part of their lives through phone calls and Facetime visits. Her grandchildren were Justin Schwartz, Kristin Schwartz Pullig, Caitlin Schwartz, Jason Evans, Lacey Evans, and Angela Seelig Hale. Her great-grandchildren were Michael Hale, Jr., Avery Hale, Morgan Hale, AJ Hale, James Schwartz and Jack Schwartz. Her 90 years on earth were very special to those who knew her and loved her and shared time with her. May Gods blessings be on a woman who lived every day in grace, dignity and love. The Visitation will be 10, 2016 at Sunset North , 910 N Loop 1604 E at 5:00 p.m., with the Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. The Mass of Resurrection will be at 10:00 a.m. 11, 2016 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church 20523 Huebner Rd, with burial to follow at St. Anthony Catholic in Columbus, Texas. In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to the Alzheimers Association http://www.alz.org/sanantonio/ under the direction of Sunset North , San Antonio, TX. |
