Obituary: C.A. Estes, 91, of Conroe, Texas, passed away on, 11, 2017 in Brenham, Texas. C.A. was born in Merryville, Louisiana on 12, 1925, the son of Horace Virgil Estes and Virgie Wingate Estes. He moved with his family to Call, Texas in 1932 and attended elementary school in Call, and was a graduate of Kirbyville High School. C.A. was a World War II Veteran having served in the U.S. Navy from , 1943 to May, 1946. He was assigned to the U.S.S. Frazier DD607 as a Fireman First Class and as an Electrician Mate Third Class. The Frazier was in Destroyer Squadron Fourteen in the Pacific Theater. He was proud to have served as a member of the Frazier crew. He was employed by Gulf States Utility for thirty-nine years in the Transmission and Distribution Department. The last sixteen years of employment, he was the Western Division Meter and Service Supervisor. He was an avid Bass Fisherman and spent many weekends and vacations with his family, fishing lakes and streams in East, Texas and Northwest Louisiana. Preceded in death by his parents and wife of 54 years, Mary Dupuy Estes, a student in the Cadet Nurse Corp. who he met while serving in World War II, C.A. is survived by son; Fred Estes and wife Carol of Brenham, and daughter; Katherine Neumann and husband Dan of Conroe, grandchildren; Karen Bosquez, Jamie Estes Emerton, Jody Estes, Crystal Winkler, and Leslie Mills, and eight great grandchildren. Pallbearers: Jody Estes, Coulter Baxter, Trace Emerton, Aiden Emerton, Jeremiah Johnson, and Christopher Bosquez. Honorary Pallbearers: Floyd Helton, William Norwood, Roy Haarmeyer, Warren Watson, and Mike Newman. Visitation will be at Cashner in Conroe, Texas on , 15, 2017 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm Graveside service for C.A. Estes will be held at Garden Park on , 16, 2017 at 10:00am. Obituary: Bennie Cecil Estes, 83, passed away 28, 2011 at his daughters home in Selma Texas. He was born to William Estes and Jewel Estes Owen on 13, 1927 in Rockwood Texas. He was a career soldier and Vietnam veteran. Ben married Helen Bust on 11, 1948. During their service to their country they traveled the world until retiring in San Antonio, Texas. retiring from military service, Ben began a second career as a master carpenter for Southwest Research Institute. He is survived by his sister, Billie Ruth Van Huss, his children and their spouses, Elizabeth (Betty) and Tom Stewart, Patricia J. and Red Cossel, and Richard and Terri Estes, 11 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, 1 great grandchild. Visitation will be held at Sunset Memorial Park on 1, 2011 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The funeral service will be held at Sunset Memorial Park at 12:30 on 2, 2011 with burial following at Fort Sam Houston. |

Obituary: Austin P. Estes, part of the greatest generation, passed away 13th at the age of 93. His love of country, his love of family and his love of his church kept him in comfort till the end. He served in the Navy as an Aviation Ordnance Mate 1st class from 1941 to 1946 during WWII working on top secret torpedoes used to stop the U boats in the Atlantic. To his credit is the sinking of a Japanese sub found in the Atlantic. Austin was a well know painting contractor in Houston. He and his company painted some of the finest homes in the city to include the Swedish Consulate Generals home, the home of Watergate prosecutor Leon Jaworski and many others. Preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Dorothy Shirley Lott Estes. He leaves behind his son, Tim Estes, Cmdr., USN-R (ret) and his wife Julie, daughter Kathleen Yauch, 5 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren. Austin was a believer in giving back. He volunteered tirelessly for years at the USO at Houston Intercontinental airport and the Boy Scouts USA. He also was a lay minister at St. Christophers Episcopal Church. Visitation with the family was held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on , 17, 2016 at Waltrip Directors. Services were held at 10:00 a.m. on , 18, 2016, in the sanctuary of St. Christopher's Episcopal Church, 1656 Blalock in Houston, Texas. The Reverend Robert P. Goolsby, officiated. Interment with military honors followed in Woodlawn Garden of Memories. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Christopher Episcopal Church or the Houston USO. |
