Obituary: R.H. ÂHank Engelke of San Antonio, died on evening, 3, 2001. He was predeceased by his parents, Henry and Eleanor Engelke; his twin brother Nolan; sister Lillian; and her twin brother Lee. He is survived by his wife, Pat; son, Keith; daughter-in-law, Sofia; and brothers, Norris and Arlan. Hank was born on 27, 1930. completing his service in the U.S. Navy in 1953, and after attending college, Hank became involved in the oil and gas industry. Ultimately, he became an independent oil and gas producer. Hank and Pat enjoyed dancing with their friends at several social organizations including the Carousel Dance Club, where Hank served as President; the 57 Club; the local Moose and Elks Lodges; and the Patrick McMillian Social Dance Club. Obituary: Engelke, Preston Preston Thomas Engelke, a wonderful father, grandpa, GREAT grandpa, and friend, but most of all a devoted Husband of 65 years passed away on , 5, 2015 in Seguin surrounded by his loving family. He was 91 years old. Preston was born at home in Kingsbury, Texas to and Bertha (Schuchardt) Engelke, Jr. He was a graduate of Kingsbury High School. He met the love of his life, Doris Dolle, and later married her at the Friedens United Church of Christ in Geronimo, Texas on 25, 1948. During his working career he was the parts manager for Berg Truck and Implement, an International Harvester dealer in Seguin and New Braunfels. He owned his own ranch that he called The Ponderosa, in Kingsbury, which he referred to as Gods Country. He loved to travel, especially trips to Las Vegas, Kinder, Alaska and Colorado. Preston enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting during deer season. He was an amazing dancer and a member of the Friedens United Church of Christ. He found special joy in watching his four granddaughters at ballgames, cheerleading competitions and dance recitals. In the past year his greatest pleasure was spending quality time with his great granddaughter, Alyana. He lived a wonderful life and will be missed by all. Preston leaves behind his cherished daughters Gail LaFerrara and her husband Steve of Seguin, Texas; Cindy Herzik and her husband David of Bay City, Texas; his grandchildren Kristina Even and her husband Derek, Stephanie Thomas and her husband Kerstan, Erica Herzik and fiancé Tyler Mardis, Heather Herzik; his great-granddaughter Alyana Even, his sister-in-law Deanne Engelke, and his sister-in-law Ruby Engelke. He will also be remembered by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, loving family members, and friends, especially those that he spent so much time with at the American Legion. Obituary: Maxine Cameron Engelke passed into eternal rest on , 24, 2006. A woman of boundless energy and a giving heart, she will be dearly missed by those whose lives she touched. A San Antonio native, Maxine graduated from Jefferson High School in 1940, where she was a Lasso who could still twirl her rope well into her 70Âs. She earned her BA from Incarnate Word . Maxine spent 37 years teaching elementary school students for the San Antonio Independent School District, and is remembered for spending rainy-day recess time teaching her students to folk dance. She was a member of the Louise Schuetze Lodge of the Sons of Hermann, San Antonio Conservation Society, Daughters of the Republic of Texas, Teresians, Bel Meade Garden Club, and volunteered considerable time to the Salvation Army WomenÂs Auxiliary. Among her greatest pleasures were her grandchildren, great grandchildren, chocolate, and Âher San Antonio Spurs. Maxine was a devoted wife, married to Louis B. Engelke on 1, 1943, and supported her husband as he served in the U. S. Army during World War II, and later, in his terms of office as Grand President of the Hermann Sons and President of the National Fraternal Congress. Maxine is preceded in death by Louis, her husband of 61 years. She is survived by her daughter, Cameron ÂRoni Engelke; son-in-law, Harold Seiler, D.D.S.; grandsons, Mitch and Mark Aubin, their wives Suzanne and Carol; and great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Christopher, and Kate Aubin. |

Obituary: Truly a member of ÂThe Greatest Generation, Louis was a patriot, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, journalist, fraternalist, and community leader. Born in Galveston, Texas, on 3, 1917, to Charles and Rowena Engelke, Louis graduated from The University of Texas with a degree in Journalism in 1941. He wrote and edited for the Galveston News and San Antonio Express News until entering the U.S. Army in 1942. He served as an MP in PattonÂs ArmyÂs 80th Division in World War II, sailing for England on D-Day and earned the Bronze Star. Louis retired in 1977 with the rank of Colonel. Louis is remembered for his public relations work and his commitment to the community. Following World War II, Louis returned to the San Antonio Express News, and then began a career in Public Relations. He wrote, ÂMy clients have always been of the highest typeÂ. My formula in working for them is: X their good deeds plus Y the interpretation of their good deeds = Public Attitudes. Blessed with energy and enthusiasm, he served as Grand President of the Sons of Hermann from 1977 to 1989, President of the National Fraternal Conference of America, and President of the Texas Fraternal Congress. He was responsible for the inception of HermannÂs Happiness, a popular Fiesta event, now 25 years old. LouisÂs full life included: Sons of Hermann Harmonia Lodge, Salvation Army Advisory Board, Order of the Cascaron, Fiesta San Antonio Commission, American Legion, Founders Lions Club, San Antonio Chamber of Commerce, 80th Division Veterans Association, Morning Quarterback Club, and Sigma Delta Chi. At the time of passing, Louis was compiling his WWII memoirs into a book and learning to use a computer and the Internet. Obituary: Darlene Hohertz Engelke of Austin passed away at the age of 70 on 14, 2014 at St. Davids Hospital in Austin, Texas after a long battle with cancer related health issues. She was born on 1, 1943 in Austin, Texas. She was preceded in death by her father Lester Hugo Hohertz, mother Mildred Shirley Hohertz, several aunts, uncles and cousins. Darlene was a lifetime resident of Austin and had a sincere and gracious love of life and people. She helped light up our world and she loved reading, doing creative art projects, cooking, traveling and visiting with friends and family. She had a very special bond with our children and grandchildren. She absolutely loved spending time with them. Darlene graduated from the University of Texas with a Bachelors of Fine Arts degree in 1965. Prior to graduation from college, she began her work career at the University of Texas as an administrative assistant in the Chancellors Office. She retired in 2005 from the Pflugerville School District where she was an Assistant to the Superintendent. Most recently, she served as a Board Member on the Rose Hill Association. She was married on 20, 1964 to Bennie Lee Engelke at St. Martins Lutheran Church. marriage they became members of Faith Lutheran Church in Austin. In 2006 they joined Triumphant Love Lutheran Church in Austin, Texas. Darlene and Bennie would have celebrated their 50th anniversary on 20, 2014. Darlene is survived by her husband Bennie Lee Engelke, son Sean Randall Engelke, daughter Jennifer Leigh Peck and husband Sam Peck, grandchildren Samantha Elise Peck, Jack William Peck, and Max Henry Peck, all of Austin, brother Rodney Hohertz and wife Sharon of Lake Whitney, Texas and their daughter Brandy and family of Georgetown, aunt Robbie Shirley of Austin, and a special friend to our family Tra Knox of Austin. The family requests memorial contributions in her name to be made to Triumphant Love Lutheran Church, or to the Triumphant Love Lutheran Church Child Development . Obituary: Robert Davis Engelhardt Jr. Wobert, 32 of Needville, Texas, passed away , 23, 2016. He was born 17, 1984 in Rosenberg, to Robert and Kitty Engelhardt. Robert worked for the last 3 years for point Energy. Survivors include his wife Amy Dawn Slater and children: Kari, Wyatt, Caleb and step-son Caden. He is also survived by his parents, Robert Davis Engelhardt Sr. and Kitty Pauline Gulling Engelhardt, and his sister, Brenda and Justin Kalinowski and children Shelby, Colby and Rylan; sister, Tracy and AJ Davey and children Cameron and Savannah; and sister, Jackie and Ryan Stack and children Kayla, Grayden and Maxson. He is also survived by his maternal grandparents, Floyd and Joan Gulling. In addition to these family members he had numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and friends. Some of his hobbies included: hunting and fishing, picking a guitar, singing and dancing, sports, ranch work, riding his lawn mower, and most of all, if you knew Robert then you know he enjoyed talking smack and picking on people. He was just an over grown kid. He was a loving spouse, father, son, brother, uncle and friend. He was loved by many, touched many hearts and will never be forgotten. services will be held , 29, 2016 at 10:00 A.M. at Creekside Christian Fellowship in Needville with burial in Guy Public . Reverend Greg Garcia will officiate. Visitation will be , 28, 2016 from 5-8 P.M. at Creekside Christian Fellowship. Pallbearers will be B.J.
