Obituary: Gene Emery, a Dallas attorney, died on , 14, 2016. Mr. Emery was born in Hobart, Oklahoma in 1923 and attended the University of Oklahoma before serving in the U.S. Army. He subsequently attended the University of Illinois from which he graduated with high honors and as a member of Phi Beta Kappa. He was a cum laude graduate of Harvard Law School and was a founding partner of the Dallas law firm of Rain Harrell Emery Young & Doke. This firm ultimately became a part of the present Locke Lord firm of which he was Of Counsel at the time of his death. Gene has been a member of and active in various bar associations including the American of Tax Counsel, The American of Trust and Estate Counsel, and the International Academy of Trust & Estate Law. He also served on the boards of several charitable institutions including the YMCA and was a founding director of the Dallas Blue Foundation which gives financial support to the families of Dallas Police Officers who have died or been injured in the line of duty. He had been President of the Theodore Roosevelt Association in Texas, the Dallas Estate Council, and the Arthritis Foundation. Gene also served as the President of Northwood Country Club and Dallas Country Club. Gene was an ardent golfer most of his life having shot golf scores lower than his age many, many times beginning at age 72. Following his passion for golf, he was Oklahoma Interscholastic champion, captain of his college golf team, Senior Penrose Champion (The Broadmoor, Colorado Springs) and Senior Champion at both Northwood Country Club and Dallas Country Club. Gene also won the Super Seniors 5 times at Dallas Country Club. Aside from golf, Gene became a serious runner and finished the White Rock Marathon twice in his 50s. Gene is survived by his wife Charlotte, a daughter, Kathy Miller, son-in-law Danny Miller, three grandchildren and four great grandchildren. His sons Chris and Steve preceded him in death. He was a long-time member of Highland Park Presbyterian Church and an active member of John McCoys Bible Study. Obituary: Elizabeth H. Emery, age 90, of Georgetown, Texas passed away on , 20, 2014. A Celebration of Life for Elizabeth will be held at 2:00 p.m. on , 29, 2014 in the Chapel of Ramsey , with Rev. Yvonne Coon officiating. The Emery Family invites you to join them, following the service, for a reception in the Reception Hall of Ramsey . Elizabeth was born in Trenton, New Jersey, 29, 1924 to her loving parents, Oscar and Lucille Henderson. Following high school, she attended Wayne University and Temple University in Philadelphia. On 27, 1946, Elizabeth married John L. Emery, the love of her life. John and Elizabeth exchanged wedding vows in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church in Georgetown. Elizabeth was a member of the United Federation of Doll Clubs, where she held the position of Regional Director for Michigan, Ohio and Indiana. She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and Questers. Elizabeth will continue to live on through the loving legacy she leaves behind. What a blessing it has been to have Elizabeth in each of our lives. Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Lucille Henderson and sisters, Edna Stauffer and Alverda Rose. To cherish her memory, Elizabeth leaves behind her husband, John Emery of Georgetown, Texas; daughter, Carol Johnson and husband David of Georgetown, Texas; daughter, Nancy Andersen and husband David of Dunwoody, Georgia; daughter, Joan Vogelei and husband Kirk of Troy, Michigan; daughter, Barbara Bengford and husband Shane of Georgetown, Texas; grandchildren: Scott Johnson and wife Allison, Chris Johnson and wife Tiffany, Elizabeth Fleury and husband Jason, Kristen Stokes and husband Matthew, Robert Vogelei and wife Gretchen, Drew Vogelei and wife Kristin, Katie Rahn and husband Bradford, Cole Bengford and Brooke Bengford; great-grandchildren: Sydney and Mallory Johnson, Charlee and Holden Johnson, Olivia Fleury, Maggie and Charlotte Stokes, Connell, Grace and William Vogelei and Emery Rahn; brother and sister-in-laws: Bob and Jane Henderson, O.
