Obituary: Irene Read Edwards passed into her eternal life with her savior on May 18, 2014. services will be held on , May 21, 2014 at 10 AM at the Westbrook First Baptist Church with her son-in-law, Robert Chambers, honoring her memory. Burial will follow in the Colorado City under the care and direction of Kiker-Seale . Irene was born on 29, 1921 in Erick, OK to Lemuel Lee Soles and Otellia Bell Soles-Kuikendal. On 1, 1940 Irene married Jerry Claude Read in Colorado City, TX. had three daughters: Jeanette, Claudine (Deannie), and Christine. made their home in rural Mitchell until 1964 when they moved to Colorado City. Her best friend and husband passed away on 12, 1972. Irene was blessed to work as a homemaker and at Corner Drugstore, which later became Perkins. She worked there diligently and faithfully for 42 years. On 26, 1976 she married Allen Edwards. shared four wonderful years together until he passed away on 3, 1980. Irene lived most all her adult life in Mitchell . She lived in Colorado City until 2010 and was currently residing in Midland Manor Park Village. She trusted the Lord as her savior in 1961 and was a Member of the Westbrook First Baptist Church for 52 years. She regularly attended services at the Manor Park Chapel in Midland for the last four years. Those left to cherish Irenes memory are her daughters, Jeanette Duffer of Big Spring; Claudine (Deannie) and husband Bill Burt of Midland; Christine and husband Robert Chambers of Abilene; Laura and husband Jack Brady of Oklahoma; Lou and husband Andy Vail; and Sue Delbeck; seventeen grandchildren; thirty-seven great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Myrl Soles of Big Spring; as well as many numerous nieces, nephews and great friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jerry Read; huband, Allen Edwards; one granddaughter, Geraldine Duffer Hodnett, one son-in-law, Lester Duffer; as well as eleven brothers and sisters. Obituary: Colorado City - Mr. Ira Edwards, age 86, of Colorado City, died morning in a local hospital. Services will be at 2 PM in the First Baptist Church in Colorado City with Dr. Jerry Shields officiating. Burial will follow in the Colorado City under the direction of Kiker-Seale . Mr. Edwards was born 12, 1924 in Slick, Oklahoma to Edgar and Myra Underwood Edwards and had been a resident of Colorado City since 1970. He married Genevieve Todd on 3, 1946 in Shamrock, Oklahoma. He was a 30 year employee for Sun Oil Co. He was a member of the First Baptist Church where he was a deacon, a member of Gideons International and a veteran of the US Army during WWII. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Jean Edwards of Colorado City; a daughter, Melody and husband, David Stubblefield of Colorado City; 2 sons: Michael and wife, Linda Edwards of Divide, CO and Daniel and wife, Debra Edwards of Broken Arrow, OK; 2 sisters: Colleen Sollars of Cushing, OK and Sue England of Marble Falls, TX; 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends. He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Earl Edwards and a sister Walsie Douglas. The family will receive friends at the Edwards home at 912 E. 12th St. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church Youth & Childrens Ministry or the Gideon International. |

Obituary: Horace Thomas Edwards, 91, resident of Cedar Park, Texas, passed away May 17, 2015, in Gerogetown, Texas. He was born 12, 1923, in Slaton, Texas, to Ray and Sue Edwards. He lived in the Texas panhandle and eastern New Mexico before his family moved to Muleshoe to start Edwards Gin Co. He began school at Tarlton State University after graduating from Muleshoe High School. returning from World War II where he served in the Army Air Corp, he married his true love, Theresa Pierson on 7, 1947. While in Muleshoe, he was Club President and Zone Chairman for Lions Club International and served on the School Board. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Muleshoe from the 1930s to 1972 and a member of St. Lukes United Methodist Church in Lubbock from 1972 to 2008. He taught school in both churches. He started the International Pump Sales for Hydraulic Pump in Lubbock and traveled throughout the middle east in the 1970s. He loved woodworking and after retirement, he spent a great deal of time in his workshop. Pen making became his specialty One of his highlights after moving to Cedar Park was going on the Honor Flight for World War II Veterans living in the Austin area. Survivors include his sons, Gary Edwards and wife Terri of Kerrville, TX and Mark Edwards and wife Marian of Gerogetown, TX; grandchildren, Whitney Edwards of Lubbock, Jeremy Edwards and wife Tammy of Frisco,TX, and Molly Edwards of Round Rock, TX; great-grandchildren Connor, Payton, Grayson and Crosby. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, sister, Evangeline Edwards, and a great-grandson, Wyatt Andrew. Condolences may be offered at www.resthavenfuneralhome.com |

ÂEdÂ, as he liked to be called was preceded in death by his loving wife, Bobbie, sisters, Margaret Morris, Luella Hoover and brother, Ralph Edwards. He is survived by his children, Charles Edwards and wife, Barbara, ll LaChapelle and husband, George of Nebraska, Rick Edwards and wife, Yolanda of San Antonio and Renee Leona Edwards of Rhode Island. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Angela Levinthal of Houston, Aimee Hunter of Austin, Zachary Edwards of Dallas, Derrick Gerloff and Ellie Edwards of San Antonio; two great grandchildren, Chandler and Kendall Levinthal of Houston. ÂEd also leaves behind his sisters, Jonelle Pape of Seguin and Mary Hillman of Houston. ÂPaw Paw we will deeply miss your strong faith and good example that has guided all of us in GodÂs ways, we love you and are proud of youÂ.
