Obituary: Former Palm Springs, California resident, Nina Louise Eckstrom, 84, of Arlington, TX went home to be with the Lord 3, 2013. She was surrounded by her husband Glenn and loving family preceding her death. Nina and Glenn were married for 63 years and resided at Towne Village Independent living facility until her recent illness. Nina was born on the family farm in Red Oak, IA on 31, 1928 to John Veimar Adrian and Mary Anna Johnson. She attended Coburg High School, North Park in Chicago, and San Diego State University. Nina was a faithful member of Covenant Church in Omaha, Nebraska before moving to Palm Spring, CA in 1963, where the family became members of the Community Church in Palm Springs, California. She served her church in many capacities, as well as serving as the President of Christian Womens Club for a season. She was preceded in death by her sister, Lolita Udd, and her brother Lester Johnson. She is survived by her loving husband, Glenn, her sister, Esther Mae Gotberg of Red Oak, IA; four children: Daniel Eckstrom of Palm Springs, CA, Linda Herod (Stanley) of Guatemala City, Guatemala, David Eckstrom (Patricia) of Grand Prairie, TX and Lisa Rodgers (Pat) of Coralville, IA, 14 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren. |

Obituary: ARLINGTON -- Sannie Sue Sears Eckstein, a retired registered nurse, passed away in the peacefulness of her home , Nov. 10, 2012, after an extended illness. : 10 a.m. at Moore - Bowen Road Chapel, Bowen Road and Interstate 20, in Arlington. Interment: Dallas-Fort Worth National . Visitation: 4 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials: Donations can be made to The American Heart Association. Sue was born 23, 1928, in Whitewright and attended Gainesville High School. She attended Decatur Baptist before completing studies at TWC and nurse's training at JPS Hospital to become a registered nurse. Sue met the love of her life, Sid, several years later on a blind date organized by dear high school friends. Believe it or not, neither Sid nor Sue wanted to go that night. However, they were married six months later. This past summer, they celebrated 61 years of marriage. Sue worked at John Peter Smith, St. Joseph's and the old Cook's hospital. Twenty years ago, she retired her white uniform to enjoy spending time traveling with her husband. spent many hours on the road in their RV and especially enjoyed their cruise around the Hawaiian islands and spent 10 days touring Europe. maintaining a home on the east side of Fort Worth, they moved to Arlington in 1995. Sue was a member of Meadowbrook United Methodist Church before moving to Arlington, where she became a member of St. Barnabas United Methodist Church. Sue had such a loving, kind-hearted spirit and a knack for creating conversation. Most strangers she met turned into friends after a quick chance-meeting. Her love for family was beyond priceless. She often said that to give love to her children and their children made her happiest. Sue truly cared about everyone around her and would do anything for anybody: family, friends and strangers. Sue was preceded in death by her parents, Byron and Virginia Sears; and brother, Tom Sears and his wife, Sue. Survivors: Loving husband of 61 years, Sid Eckstein Jr.; daughter, Karen and son-in-law, Larry Murphy; son, Kerry Eckstein and daughter-in-law, Robin; daughter, Kellie and son-in-law, Steven Camber; grandchildren, Josh and Taylor Eckstein, Eddie Alexander, Alyson and Natalie Camber; eight great-grandchildren; and brother-in-law, Harold Eckstein. |

Obituary: Sid Eckstein Jr., age 84, a retired Helicopter Flight Instructor with the Army National Guard in Grand Prairie, TX passed away Oct. 23, 2014. Celebration of Life: 11 am , 28, 2014 at Moore & Sons on Rd. in Arlington. Burial: 1:15 pm , 28, 2014 at Dallas-Fort Worth National in Dallas. Visitation: 6-8 pm , 27, 2014 at Moore & Sons on Bowen Rd in Arlington. Sid was born 14, 1930 in Fairview, Ohio. He moved with his parents and two brothers to Fort Worth in 1941. He graduated from Polytechnic High School in Fort Worth and later received his Bachelor of Science degree. Sid met the love of his life Sue several years later on a blind date. were married six months later. Sid served his country on active duty during the Soviet buildup in Europe (Berlin Crisis) during the Fall of 1961. He received his Army Aviation Wings from Fort Rucker, Alabama in 1966, as a Chief Warrant Officer. He continued his flying career with the Army National Guard and became a full time Civil Service Flight Instructor in 1971. He served in that capacity until his retirement in 1990. retirement, he spent several years as a Real Estate Broker for Coldwell Banker in Arlington. Sid was an avid reader, collector and researcher of family genealogy. His granddaughter often remarked how many books he had on his office shelves. He had a passion for historical subjects attending TCJC Senior program every chance he could, studying American History. Sid and Sue enjoyed traveling. spent many days on the road in their RV and especially enjoyed their cruise around the Hawaiian Islands and 10 days touring Europe. maintaining a home on the East Side of Fort Worth, they moved to Arlington in 1995. Sid was a member of the Meadowbrook United Methodist Church before moving to Arlington where he became a member of St. Barnabas United Methodist Church. Sid was preceded in death by his wife of more than 60 years, Sue Sears Eckstein; parents Sidney Eckstein and Florence Amanda Wilmott; brothers, Harold Eckstein and Captain Melvin Eckstein USAF; and sisters Marjory LaLonde and Dorthy Rhoades. Survivors: Daughter Karen Ann and son-in-law Larry Murphy; daughter Kellie Lynn and son-in-law Steve Camber, and son Kerry Wayne Eckstein and wife Robin; five grandchildren, Josh and Taylor Eckstein, Eddie Alexander, Alyson and Natalie Camber; five great-grandchildren, Edgar, Reagan, and Jackson Alexander, and Toby and Ansel Eckstein. Obituary: Claudia Joan Eckstein, known to most of her friends and loved ones as Cauci was born 7, 1924 in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania. She was the eldest child of Dr. Paul F. and Bess Grosz Eckstein. Cauci was a lover of poetry and art history. She graduated from Business school in 1943 and spent many years in banking in Pittsburgh. In 1970, she and her mother Bess moved to San Antonio, Texas to be near her sister, Judy and her family. She worked at the Witte Museum for 23 years both as an executive secretary, and as the Museums registrar. retirement, she worked as a volunteer for the Methodist Hospital Bluebirds. She was an active member of University Methodist Church and worked as the Church librarian. In 2003, she moved to Comfort, Texas, and then to Boerne, Texas in 2009. Cauci was a loving, generous person and was loved by her family and the many friends she made during her career at the Witte. She will be sorely missed by all. She was preceded in death by her father, Dr. Paul F. Eckstein; mother, Bess G. Eckstein; brother, Paul F. Eckstein, Jr.; and sister, Judith E. Sparks. She is survived by her nephew, Paul Sparks of Boerne; niece, Claudia Alldredge and husband Benji Alldredge of Comfort; great niece, Rachel Alldredge of Dallas; great niece, Katie Alldredge of Bryan; and great nephew, Bryan Alldredge and his wife Casey; and great great niece, Emery Mae, all of Keller, Texas; as well as the many cousins she kept in close contact with throughout her life.
