Obituary: San Angelo-Melvin Lee Eckerman passed away on , 25, 2014 in San Angelo, Texas at the age of 92. He was born in Runnels , Rowena, Texas to Louis and Talitha Eckerman. He was a long time resident of San Angelo. He loved country living and life in the outdoors. Working on a ranch with livestock during the latter years of his life was a great joy to him. It can truly be said about him You can take the boy out of the country, but you can take the country out of the boy. Even though he resided in the city his heart was truly in the country where he began. He attended School in Eola. He was married to his soul mate Betty Ellett on 3, 1945. The two were married for over 69 years. Betty is a retired book keeper and homemaker. The couple was blessed with 2 children, Sharon and Michael. Through the years Melvin became a master carpenter whose craftsmanship was admired by all who knew him. Many of his devoted customers would wait not only months but years for Melvin to work his graft. Among the many things that exemplified his life were his extreme honesty, his tremendous work ethic and his devotion to being his familys provider. He lovingly confessed the Lord Jesus Christ as his savior and was a faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church of San Angelo. He is survived by his wife Betty Ellett Eckerman, of San Angelo; daughter Sharon Eisenbach and husband Eddie of San Angelo; 12 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren and 8 great great grandchildren. Also, his sister Madelle Huckaby of San Angelo, sister in law Lori Eckerman of Santa Maria, CA., and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; his son, Michael Allen Eckerman; his two brothers, Retired AF Col. Chester Earl Eckerman and Retired Navy Lt. Commander Weldon Ray Eckerman. The service will be held , 28, 2014 at 10:30 AM with Rev. Randall Wehmeyer officiating. Interment will follow at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. Obituary: Mother quietly slipped away in the early hours of , 24th. She was lovingly received by her Lord and Savior and joyously met by ther beloved husband Melvin and son Mike. Precious family who joined in celebration were her father, Joe Ellett, mother, Bernice Garrett, and sister, Joan Joiner; as well as family too numerous to name, but never forgotten by her. She was greatly surprised by the number of brothers and sisters in Christ who greeted her, whom she had led and taught the truths of God's word. Mama, Nanny, Aunt B, and Sister will be remembered most for her many expressions of love. She generously planted seeds of grace and wisdom in those of us she loved so well. She prayed for us, she fed us, she nursed us, and encouraged us. She taugh us how to love and be a child of God. We are left with all she instilled in us to live out the legacy of faith she passed on to us. What better life could we have witnessed than one devoted to God in all that she was? Mother was a homemaker, a caregiver, a seamstress, a bookkeeper, a teacher, a writer, and a poet. All of these talents were enjoyed by her, but she especially loved teaching. She collected certain great books and beautiful glassware she hoped that we would all enjoy when she went home with her Lord. She took pleasure in conversation about her memories of past generations of family and friends she loved when growing up in San Angelo. The home she died in was the home she and Daddy lived in most of their 69 years of marriage. Mama sang to her children, her grandchildren, her great grandchildren and her great great grandchildren whe she rocked them and sat with them on the porch swing. The neighbors who were sear friends were named Whiffen, Tindall, Hollis, Phillips, Walker, Amacker, and many more she always spoke of fondly. The church family was esteened by her and Daddy, so her memories included dear pastors, teachers and friends. Mother had sweet memories of working for her dear friend Virginia at Holland's and never forgot those she worked closely with there who became family. When Daddy passed away in , Mama's memory began to diminish, but she knew that she was home and was loved by those who cherished her gift of the life lived fully. Mother, 88 yrs., and Daddy 92 yrs., passed from us within 3 months of each other. We grieve our loss, but rejoice in the memory of their lives together and all the precious years we shared. The family wants to thank all who have been so loving and supportive in these past few months. The funeral for Mama will be at Trinity Lutheran Church on , Nov. 28th, and 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Randall Wehmeyer officiating. Burial will follow at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. Obituary: Maxine Pierce Eckelman, 95, passed peacefully into the arms of her Lord on , 11, 2011 surrounded by her loving family. Service: 12:30 PM , 15,2011; Moore 1219 N. Davis Arlington, TX 76012. Celebration of Life: 14, 2011 from 6-8 PM. Ms. Eckelman was born Arpil 19, 1916 in Kerens, TX. She was a long time resident of Arlington and a member of First United Methodist Church of Arlington. Maxie retired from Chance Vought Air Craft after 20 years of service, she then entered the glamorous world of Sara Coventry Jewelry where she traveled extensively. Maxie also was a devoted Texas Ranger fan. She is preceded in death by her parents, D.L. and Lela Mae Pierce; sisters Arlene Tramel, Helen Nobels, and Rosalie Wilson; brothers D.L. Pierce, Jr. and Raymond Pierce. The family would to thank North Pointe & Rehab, and Integra Hospice for all their loving care. Surviors include daughters Glenda Kent of Plano, TX and Wanda Williams of Myrtle Point, OR.; sister Belle Marshall of Ft. Worth, TX; brothers Joe Pierce of San Antiono, TX and Jimmy Pierce of Springtown, TX.
