He graduated in 1943 from Canton HS and then attended NE Aircraft School at the East Boston Airport, now Logan Airport. He was drafted at age 17 into the US Army. During WWII he was tail gunner on a B24 with the 451st Bombardment Group 15th in the US Army Air Corp, stationed in Italy. Parallel with his teaching, he was the supervisor of the Adult Evening Practical Arts Program at Brockton HS for 20 years. David retired from teaching in 1981. In the summer of 1959, David packed up the family and pulled a 16' Shasta trailer across the US, so they could appreciate the diversity of their country from coast to coast.
