Obituary: Elizabeth “Betty” Ann Duda, beloved wife of John L. Duda, joined her Savior on 24th. Born in Chicago, IL 9, 1932, Betty, a lifelong Lutheran, attended Concordia University Chicago and was subsequently called to teach at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church and School in Slavia, FL. In 1951 she met John, her soulmate of 64 years. were blessed with six daughters, nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Betty had a love and commitment for church and community volunteerism. Civic leadership called her as she went on to be President of the Junior League of Orlando/Winter Park, President and trustee of Rollins , President of the Central Florida Fair and a board member of the following: SunTrust Bank, Winter Park Hospital, Orlando Civic Theater, The Loch Haven Art , Florida Blood Bank, Central Florida Zoo, Reedy Creek Improvement District and University of Florida’s IFAS. Beyond her community service Betty joyfully dedicated herself to servant-leadership of her Lord nationally and internationally. She served as President of the LWML International and was a board member of the following: Lutheran Church Missouri Synod, Lutheran Hour Ministries, Wheat Ridge, Thrivent Financial, Lutheran World Relief, Lutheran Indian Ministries, POBLO, Lutheran School of the Deaf (Mill Neck) and three Concordia’s; Chicago, Bronxville and St. Paul Minneapolis. During her lifetime Betty received many prestigious awards and was the recipient of three honorary doctorates. Betty’s dedication to her Savior profoundly influenced the people she loved and served. Her legacy of faith and service lives on through her family and friends. She is survived by husband John; sister, Mary Lou Nash; daughters Beth, Linda, Pam, Leslie and Jennifer; grandchildren Ryan, Rick, Andy, Branden, John Aaron, Kate, Andrew, Gavin and Garet; and four great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her daughter Janet. A Memorial Service celebrating Betty’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on , 27, 2016 at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Oviedo, Fl. Obituary: Maxime DUCOSTE-AMEDEE, passed away on 20, 2017 at Good Samaritan Hospital in West Palm Beach, at the age of 46. He fought a brief but courageous battle with cancer and at the time of his passing, he was surrounded by family and close friends. Maxime, born 25, 1970, in Port-au-Prince Haiti, migrated to Montreal at the age of 9 with his family. He attended Lucien Pagé and graduated from Université du Québec a Montreal with a bachelors degree in Urban Planning. He later received his Masters Degree in Public Administration from Nova Southeastern University. While a high school student, he met the person who was destined to be his life partner, Mariam Obas. The two married on 20, 1996 and remained inseparable from their first date to the day of his passing. In 1999, they made the decision to relocate to America and settled in West Palm Beach Florida. Maxime worked for the City of Lake Worth since 2013. He was the Assistant Director of Planning and Preservation for the City of Lake Worth, a position he held since 2016. Prior to working with the City of Lake Worth, Max spent 13 years with the City of Boynton Beach where he held various titles, including Planner, Zoning and Business Tax Manager and Business Development Specialist. His work ethic, professionalism and respect for his colleagues were all examples of his character and love of his career. In addition to his professional life, Maxime had many hobbies and loved sharing his talents with others. He enjoyed gardening and caring for his orchids. He was a health conscious individual. Prior to his illness, Max enjoyed working out at the gym at least 4 times per week, and anyone within earshot would receive an invitation to join him. He loved auto racing and reveled in watching the Formula 1 Auto Races every year. He was an avid soccer fan who never passed up watching a game. To some of his Historic Northwood neighbors, Max was the one who was always ready to help with anything, including installing and removing shutters each and every hurricane season or going through his fully stocked tool boxes to fix anything at a moments notice. He had a sense of style, which developed into a passion for socks. Max had an affinity to colorful yet tasteful socks which became his signature brand. However, none of these hobbies came close to his love for building things like miniature cars and photography. Passions he shared with his son, Frederic. Maxime was a family man who was blessed with three children, the eldest Max-Olivier, Frederic and Camille the youngest. Maxime was also a member of a large extended family comprised of St. Ann Catholic School and the parish church in West Palm Beach. All three children attended St. Ann School and the Ducostes all attended mass there on a regular basis, as a family. Maxime found many ways to involve himself and volunteered his time and talents to both the school and the church, including being a member of the Advisory Council of St. Ann Catholic School. He supported the academic and athletic interest of his children and was ever present at the lacrosse games. You could always find him in the stand with his extra-long lens camera taking pictures of Max-Olivier, Frederic or Camille and their teammates at their respective lacrosse games. His life with Mariam was one led by love and example. He was a model father, husband and friend who instilled his values, character and morals in all he did. His love for Mariam was evident in the life they built together. Others were inspired by the way he expressed his love in every aspect of their life. He touched the lives of many with his kindness and challenged those around him to do the same, to live by example of mutual respect and human kindness towards all. Although a man of few words, his presence and character were felt loud and clear. The legacy he leaves behind for his children is one based on honor, respect, kindness and love. The family has organized a memorial celebration of his life at the Quattlebaum located at 5411 Okeechobee Blvd. West Palm Beach, from 6-8pm , 28th. The funeral will be held at 11:00 am on , 29th at St. Ann Catholic Church. A repass will be held at the St. Ann School Banquet room, following the service.
