Obituary: Doris Jean Downs, 82, of Pensacola, died , 14, 2016. Mrs. Downs was born 02, 1934 in Brown , Ohio to Russel M. Kelch and Carolina Winkle Kelch. She moved to Pensacola in 2004 from Tampa, Florida and is a member of Gulf Coast Christian Church. She is a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who enjoyed gardening. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Hugh Kelch. Survivors include her husband, Ralph W. Downs; sons, Ken Downs and wife Joanne, Keith Downs and wife Tiphane; grandchildren, Sheila, Shoni, Peter, Kevin, Nick and Tyler; great grandchildren, Hannah, Austin, Madison and Vivian; great great grandchild, Riley. services will be held at 10:00 a.m., , 20, 2016 at Gulf Coast Christian Church, 590 E. Burgess Rd. with Rev. Andy Pauwels officiating. Interment will follow at Bayview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., , 19, 2016 at the funeral home. Obituary: Dalila Quintana Downs 86 Dalila Quintana Downs, died peacefully on 16, 2016 in Winter Park, FL. Dalila was born 26, 1929, in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, the daughter of Francisca and Jose Quintana. On 26, 1951 Dalila married Donald W. Downs, an airman in the United States Airforce. The next seventeen years were spent raising their three children as they traveled from Puerto Rico to Louisiana, England, New Mexico and Montana. In 1968 Dalila and Donald moved to Merritt Island, FL. While in Merritt Island Dalila made many friends and was active in the local Moose Lodge. Dalila and Donald then built a home in Ocala where they lived until Donalds death in 2001. Dalila moved back to Merritt Island where she enjoyed an active social life at the Island Lakes retirement community. In addition to raising their three children Dalila loved to be surrounded by friends and family. She loved music, dancing, playing card games, dominoes and word puzzles. Dalila is survived by children, Linda Zarbaugh of Oviedo, FL, Kathy Burke of Rancho Murieta, CA and her son Donald Downs, Jr. of Merritt Island, FL; 8 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and friends. There will be a graveside service on 23, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Florida Memorial Gardens in Rockledge, FL. Memorial donations should be sent to the Alzheimers Association. |

Obituary: Bernice Tracy Downs (94) passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving children - John, Margaret, Elizabeth, and Dorothy. Bernice was born in Philadelphia, PA on 20, 1921 and two weeks later moved with her family to West Palm Beach. She was a pioneering member of Palm Beach . Bernice graduated from St. Anns School in West Palm Beach. She worked as a telephone operator for Bell Telephones during World War II. She and her husband, Duke, started Downs Construction in 1945. Bernice did all of the bookkeeping for Downs Construction for 40 years. She and Duke also owned several apartments on Palm Beach Shores and Bernice managed those while raising her family. Bernice and Duke retired from the construction business, they both worked at another family business, Gallery One in Lake Park. Bernice was a devoted wife and Mother. She especially enjoyed activities, travel, and holidays that centered around family. She loved being on the water and spent many weekends in the 50s and 60s water skiing in the intercostal. When she turned 70, she traded in her water skis for a jet ski. She and Duke could be seen jet skiing up and down the waterways well into their 80s. Bernice and Duke loved to travel and enjoyed many adventures over the years. traveled extensively through the states, Canada, and the Caribbean and finally found their favorite spot in the mountains of North Carolina where they spent summers during their retirement. Bernice was preceded in death by her loving husband of 65 years, Francis Duke Downs, her beloved sister, Sara Senecal, brother Charles, and brothers-in-law Robert, Jimmy, Billy, Ted, and sisters-in-law Virginia and Helen. In addition to her children, she is also survived by sisters-in-law Carolyn Downs and Jackie Downs and many loving nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on , 29th from 2:00-4:00 at Howard-Quattlebaum 754 US Highway One in North Palm Beach. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 on , 30th at St. Clare Catholic Church, 821 Prosperity Farms Road, North Palm Beach, FL. |
