Obituary: Richard E. Downey ("Rich") of Riverview, Florida passed away on 30, 2015 at the age of 56. Rich is survived by his loving girlfriend Jeannie Oxley of 8 years, Colin Oxley (son of Jeannie Oxley), Kryssa and Derek Taylor (daughter of Jeannie) and Hailey Taylor (granddaughter of Jeannie), and his beloved daughter, Alisha Audeh, beloved granddaughter, Ariel Audeh, Jameel Audeh (son in law), Herman and Sue Cowsert (brother), Clarence Harney (brother), Daniel and Melody Downey (brother), Debbie Alberts (sister), Brenda Palmer (sister), Richard Lee Downey (father) and Betty Rogers (mother), and other loved ones. Rich was born in Rapid City, S.D. on 14, 1959. He was a retiree of Tropicana Juice Products in Bradenton, Fl. retiring, he started a successful locksmith business known as R&D Lock & Key and became a real estate agent at Lakewood Ranch Realty. A memorial service will be held at Groover at Masion Memorial Park, 1400 36th Avenue East, Ellenton, FL 34222 on 5, 2015 from 3:00 -5:00 p.m. A life so young and taken too soon...not a day will go by that we won't miss and think of you. Obituary: Philip M. Downey, 64, of Bayonet Point, FL, formerly of Franklin, MA and Upton, MA, passed away on 5, 2014. He was born on 18, 1949 in Orange, NJ to the late Stephen and Helen (Tracey) Downey. graduating from Scituate High School, Philip enlisted in the U.S. Army and served his country faithfully during two tours of duty with the Army Special Forces in Vietnam. His first tour was with the 5th Special Forces Group's 3d Mobile Strike Force at Long Hai, where he served as a recon team leader. His second tour was with Special Forces Detachment B-33 at Hon Quan. His numerous honors include a Bronze Star Medal, awarded for heroic action while under fire. Philip is survived by three children: Rachel Downey of Boston, MA; Sarah Downey of Takoma Park, MD; and Matthew Downey of Janesville, WI. He is also survived by eleven siblings: Stephen Downey, Mary Downey, Theresa Downey, Ann Banach, John Downey, William Downey, Patrick Downey, Joseph Downey, James Downey, Agnes Downey, and David Downey. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers: Martin Downey and Vincent Downey. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the Wounded Warrior Project (www.woundedwarriorproject.org). Calling hours will be held from 12:00 to 2:00 PM on , 15th at the Nickerson-Bourne , 40 MacArthur Blvd, Bourne, MA. services and a burial with military honors at the Massachusetts National will follow. |

Obituary: Peter Downey passed away morning 25, 2017 at the age of 86 after a long fought battle with Alzheimers. He is survived by his three children, and 5 grandchildren, Kevin and wife Maria, Fall City, WA and son Shawn, Michael and wife Terri of Bellevue, WA, and children Brandon and Kelley, daughter Katie and husband Matt Schiltz of Newcastle, WA, and children Mackenzie and Lucas, and his sister Polly Conway of Norwich, CT. He was pre-deceased by his wife Suzanne Luther (Sally) after 39 years of marriage, and second wife Lisa Serio. Peter was born of Irish parents in Hingham, Massachusetts, 4, 1931 to Willis and Katherine Downey, where he lived and was raised. His commitment and belief in quality education was forged at Portsmouth Abbey School in Rhode Island where he attended Middle and High School. Peter graduated from Cornell University 1954 with a degree in Electrical Engineering and later received an MBA from MIT Sloan School of Management. Cornell, he served two years with the Air Force and then was employed with General Electric followed by The Boeing , which brought him to Seattle in 1960. Peter had a distinguished 30-year career with Boeing in Aerospace as a Project Manager then Vice President before his retirement at the age of 59. Peter owned many sailboats including an International 14, Etchells 22, C-Lark, J-24, J-29 and J-35, all of which he raced competitively, locally and nationally, with his children and friends. Education, hard work, fitness and frugality were his trademark. He was known for building stereos and speakers for friends, collecting music, reading, playing bridge and travelling the world. His math aptitude and memory made him a skilled card player and his poker skills were legendary. He achieved Grand Life Master status in the American Contract Bridge League. Peter, with his sense of humor, quick laugh and easy smile, will be remembered as a loving father and caring friend. He will be greatly missed. A memorial service will be held , 17th at 12:00PM at Canyon Park Grazie, 23207 Bothell-Everett Hwy, Bothell, WA 98021. In lieu of flowers a memorial donation can be made in the name of Peter Downey to the Alzheimers Association. |
