Obituary: Longtime White Lake Michigan resident Nancy Jean (Dudley) Donielson passed away unexpectedly on 3, 2016 while in Naples Florida for the winter. Nancy was born 18, 1946 in Detroit Michigan and was 69 years of age at the time of her death. She was the daughter of Robert and Jean Dudley, also originally from Detroit. Nancy was preceded in death by her father. She is survived by her husband Mark Donielson, daughters Tracie Duclos and her husband Jeff, Marla Ward and her husband Bruce, Brother Ron Dudley, Mother Jean Dudley, and 5 cherished and loving grandchildren Hannah, Erin, and Sophia Duclos, Kyle and Brevan Ward. A private family viewing and service was held at the Fuller home in Naples Florida. Nancy will return to her Michigan family home with her husband Mark. A Celebration of Life on her birthday is planned for her Northern family & friends. Likewise, a following event during the next winter in Naples for her Southern circle of friends. While not a long life by some measure, Nancy had a full loving life of caring for others, adventure, fun, and a lot of dancing. The family would like to sincerely thank the Naples Community Hospital Cardiac Surgeon Dr. Dennis Stapleton and his medical team for their heroic efforts in a high risk situation, the NCH SICU nurses for keeping Nancy comfortable, and giving hope to the family for a better outcome. Nancy was born in Northwest Detroit in 1946 and spent her early childhood growing up in Rosedale Park, attending Cooke Elementary and Redford High School. She was a competitive swimmer and majorette for the Redford Huskies in High School. Nancy loved being near and on the water and became an accomplished water skier in her younger years. She met her future husband Mark in high school, but didn realize that at the time. Challenged by her father with the offer on a new car for a successful graduation from Western Michigan University, she finished her college education in 1968 with a degree in Elementary Education with Music minor. And Nancy loved her brand new 1967 Hot Pink, black vinyl top, 289 V8 Mustang. You have probably heard of Mustang Sally, but there was also a Mustang Nancy at that time. Nancy married Mark in 1968 and they honeymooned in Bermuda. Upon returning, it was at this time Mark received the payment book for the Mustang also receiving a first appreciation of his new father-in-laws business acumen. Nancy & Mark returned to Bermuda which was a favorite, special place for them to celebrate their 25th anniversary, and now have celebrated 47 years of loving marriage last . First living in northwest Detroit to be close to Nancys first elementary school teaching job, she taught elementary school in Redford Union and later the Waterford School district. The 3rd and 4th grade levels were her favorite. Nancy gave birth and raised two daughters, her pride and joy, Tracie (1971) and Marla (1973). As with teaching, Nancy loved the nurturing role of mother and raising her two daughters. She was so special in many ways to husband Mark as mother and wife, but also a real trooper & sport thru her support of his lifelong motorcycling habit which included two up road riding trips and providing pit stop support for off road competitive dirt racing events in northern Michigan. The new family moved to their current residence on a small private lake in White Lake Township in 1973 shortly after their second daughters birth. raising two daughters Tracie and Marla to school age, Nancy returned to substitute teaching in the Huron Valley School district and working in pre-school child care at Kathys Kids. Nancy loved playing her baby grand piano and gave private music lessons in the home to many of her child care children. Nancy loved the holidays and the home was always fully decorated & dressed to the nines for every holiday. Halloween and Christmas were her favorites and her decorating efforts and cooking talents always made each a very special remembrance for her family. Nancy was a very capable seamstress and would sew very special and unique Halloween costumes, along with Easter and Christmas Holiday dresses for the girls. Also at this time, Nancy knitted countless Afghans which became special gifts for many family and close friends. Both daughters inherited their mothers musical talents and were active in Junior and Senior High School Symphonic and competitive High School ing bands events. Nancy was a band booster, chaperoning at week long annual band camps at the start of each school season. Also being a very capable seamstress, Nancy volunteered to make hundreds of various style Color Guard flags for the High School marching band competition performances for 6 years during the daughters time in the band. At that time, the Lakeland High School competitive marching band was a top contender at the State Level and Nancy was definitely a contributor to this success. Starting at an early age and continuing thru her life, Nancy loved being near and on the water. There were many sailing adventures aboard the family sailboat Blown Aweigh on Lake St. Clair and the Great Lakes of Erie and Huron with month long family sailing vacations to the Canadian waters of Georgian Bay and the North Channel above Manitoulin Island to rendezvous with other boats & friends in the Michigan sailing community. Nancy captured these adventures keeping detailed logs of daily activities and the family will certainly cherish being able to recapture the memories of these sailing trips. Caribbean bare boat sailing trips with close friends were also part Nancys sailing adventures. In addition to a somewhat vagabond lifestyle on the water, Mark & Nancy also began exploring the country in land yachts doing family RV trips out to most of the Western states, the Canadian Rockies, down the East Coast, with annual trips south for a winter break in Florida.
