Obituary: Jean Bacon Divers, 83, of Tampa passed away 13, 2017. She was born , 15, 1934 in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Her family moved to Tampa in 1937. She attended local schools, the University of Georgia, and the University of Tampa. She was a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority. In 1955, she was Queen of Ye Mystic Krewe of Gasparilla. In 1957, she married Lt. Robert J. Laugherty, a pilot in the US Air Force. He died in 1962. In 1964, she married A. Gerald “Jerry” Divers. Over the years, she was active in local civic and social affairs and active in support of her husband in his banking career. She is survived by her husband and their sons and daughters-in-law, Alan and Heidrun and Brett and Pam, her grandchildren, Hayley and Ryan, her brother and sister-in-law Bob and Joan Bacon, and her nieces and nephews, all of Tampa. She was predeceased by her first husband, her parents, Helen and Devereux Bacon, and her sister, Beverly Bacon Gray. The family is grateful to Naomi McLaughlin for her attentive and loving care for Jean for the past eleven years. A funeral service will be held on , 20, 2017 at 4:00 P.M. at St. Andrews Episcopal Church, 509 E Twiggs St, Tampa, FL 33602. A reception will follow at the Palma Ceia Golf and Country Club. |
