Obituary: DeVito, Grace Nov. 5, 1937 - 11, 2014 Grace was born 5, 1937, in Jamaica, New York to Nicholas and Elsie Scocca. She graduated from Jamaica High School in 1955 and married Frank DeVito in 1964. were married for over 20 years and during that time they lived in Bayside, and later Rockland , New York. Grace relocated to Florida in 1989. Grace led a varied and interesting life, having had many careers. She was the successful proprietor of a fur salon in Rockland, and later the Operating Manager of all clubhouse activities, including catering, at the Mountainview condominium complex in Valley Cottage, New York. moving to Florida, she spent 17 years with Baer's furniture, as a sales person and design consultant. Per her family, "All who knew Grace know that she was one of a kind. Generous and a free spirit who was always the life of the party, she had a unique personality that can never be replicated." She is survived by her ex-husband, Frank DeVito of Schenectady, NY; nieces Leslie Scocca Croft of West New York, NJ and Karen Scocca Lucie of Tappan, NY.; and nephew Joseph De Vito of Tampa, Florida. Obituary: DeVito, Anthony Michael (92) passed away 27 2015 in Jacksonville, Duval, Florida. He was born in Waterbury, Connecticut on 29 1923, the son of Leonard DeVito and Josephine Carusillo DeVito, both of whom immigrated from Italy to the United States. He was the eldest of five siblings. He is survived by his wife of sixty-eight years, Helen Pastor DeVito; one daughter, Carolyn DeVito Rickerson (Lee C.); four grandchildren: Hillary Anne Rickerson, Gillian Layne McLane, Rachel Diane Rickerson, and Hannah Bea Rickerson. Great grandchildren include: Triniti Paige Land, Audrey Nicole Land, Hallie Rene McLane, Layla Rylee Ross, and Alexis Skylar Weston. He is also survived by two brothers: Louis DeVito and Peter DeVito. He is predeceased by two siblings: Consilia DeVito Maiorano (Robert) and Mary DeVito Alassi (Eugene). Tony was a veteran of three wars: World War II, the Korean conflict, and Vietnam. He retired from the service as a Sergeant Major and was the recipient of the Bronze Star, Vietnam Service Medal with two stars, WWII Occupation Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, and National Defence Medal, among others. Upon retirement he worked for the State of Alabama as an employment specialist and retired after twenty years of service. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints and served a twentytwo mission as a temple worker / sealer in both the Atlanta Georgia and Orlando Florida temples. An avid golfer, he played weekly up until his late seventies. The viewing is scheduled for 7 from 6-8 p.m. at HardageGiddens Rivermead , 127 Blanding Boulevard, Orange Park, FL. The funeral service will occur on 8 at 10 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints, 461 Blanding Boulevard, Orange Park, FL, Graveside service with military honors to follow. |
