Obituary: Omer A. Midge Desrosier, 92, of Bradenton, FL passed away at home on , 10, 2017 surrounded by his family. He was born on 8, 1924 in Taftville, CT to the late John and Roselba (Martin) Desrosier. Midge worked as a carpenter for most of his life while living in Connecticut and as a property manager at Sandy Cove on Siesta Key before retirement. He was a US Navy Veteran of WWII; enlisted on 15, 1943 and was honorably discharged on 21, 1946. He served as a gunners mate aboard the USS Phoenix. Midge was a lifelong member of the Knights of Columbus in both Baltic, CT and more recently in Bradenton, FL of council #13341. He also was a member of the American Legion Post #85 of Baltic, CT. Midge was a member of Our Lady of the Angels and served previously as a Eucharistic minister at both Our Lady of the Angels, Bradenton, FL and Incarnation Catholic Church, Sarasota, FL. Midge is survived by his daughter, Lorraine and son-in-law, Jack Miller of Bradenton, FL and daughter Kim Desrosier of Clearwater, FL; brother, George Desrosier (Liz) of Groton, CT and sister, Rita Shea (Jerry) of Lisbon, CT; brother-in-law, Mike Pysiewski of Sarasota, FL and sisters-in-law, Lillian Booth of Summerfield, FL and Alice Crandal of Westerly, RI and numerous nieces and nephews. A special thanks to wonderful caregiver, Yvette Rosales of Bradenton, FL and also to the staff at TideWell Hospice of Ellenton, FL. He is preceded in death by his wife, Vivian and his wife Arlene, the mother of his children. Midge is also predeceased by his brothers, Edward L. Desrosier, Henry A. Desrosier, Gerard P. Desrosier, Romeo J. Desrosier and Herve Desrosier and sister, Jean Rondau. A visitation will be held on , 18, 2017 from 5 until 7 pm at Palms-Robarts , 170 Honore Ave., Sarasota, FL 34232. Services will be held on , 19, 2017 at 11 am at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church, 12905 E State Rd 70, Lakewood Ranch, FL 34202. Interment will take place at Sarasota Memorial Park, Sarasota, FL. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice or to TideWell Hospice, Ellenton, FL. |
