Obituary: Carmine Anthony DeSantolo Born to this life 9, 1925- 6, 2015~gone but never forgotten~ My father and his twin Marion were born on 9, 1925 at Misericordia Hospital, Bronx NY his parents Pasquale DeSantolo born 17, 1892, Elvira Gotti born 1903. My grandfather Pasquale spoke, Italian, English and French which during WW1 the United States offered him to serve our armed services. Family members were his twin sister Marion, Antonio born 21, 1923 and later his younger brother William who passed away at 11years of age. My father (nickname) Cosmo and his family survived the great depression; he was deeply devoted to his family and joined the US Army when he turned seventeen during WWII, two years later he transferred into the US Navy serving four more years on a fleet-oiler carrier ship the USS Caliente AO-53. He was stationed in Hawaii during the attack on Pearl Harbor fortifying & supporting our military branches, defending the Philippines the Panama Canal and served as a Pharmacists Mate 2nd Class. serving in the military he had several jobs and always remained close to his family. In 1965 a love story was born. My mother Charlotte thirty seven living in Wheeling, West Virginia at the time her best friend Danny had two dates one evening so she invited my mom to have the other. On the top penthouse in New York City. In a pool with show dogs on pillars, swimming there the most handsome man shed ever met. My father was age thirty eight. married six weeks later and till death did they part. I was born in 1966 and born to two of the most loving parents. In 1983 we were blessed with my daughter Amber and in 1987 my son Josh. Both learned how to drive by at least age six and were loved unconditionally by both grandparents. My parents loved to travel & take cruises to places like Europe, Hawaii, Alaska and the Caribbean. We were fortunate to travel as a family to the Caribbean many times. We never lived more than 25 minutes away from each other and never spent more than 30 days apart, ever. Angelina their great-granddaughter was born in of 2004. In lieu of flowers, I am personally requesting donations directly to Alzheimers research and cure. My father suffered from this disease since at least age 79 and wasn diagnosed till 82. He was proud and dressed in blazers and hats with ties, a man of dignity not known these days. Alzheimers took that away. He loved to walk and never sat, loved to travel with his wife. Alzheimers took that away. He was able to talk the most beautiful kindest words to me. Alzheimers cruelly over the course of eleven years made him so severely contracted he couldn feed himself dress himself or others put clothes on him. My husband Ron Dodson and I took care as well as managed his care within his home till the end. He was loved by many and his smile will be sorely missed. Matthew Chapter 15 Then came to Jesus scribes and Pharisees, which were of Jerusalem, saying, Why do thy disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? For they wash not their hands when they eat bread. But he answered and said unto them, why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition? For God commanded, saying, Honor thy father and mother: and, He that curseth father or mother, let him die the death. But ye say, whosoever shall say to his father or his mother, It is a gift, by whatsoever thou mightest be profited by me; And honor not his father or his mother, he shall be free. Thus have ye made the commandment of God of none effect by your tradition. Carmine Anthony DeSantolo is survived by his daughter Charlotte Cara Dodson (Ron), his granddaughter Amber Blythe Norton, his grandson Joshua Cory Norton, his great-granddaughter Angelina J. Norton, his nephew Anthony William DeSantolo 1/20/45, niece, Suzette DeSantolo 12/54 and niece Christine Jenkins. A visitation is scheduled for 18, from 12:00 P.M. ~ 1:00 P.M. at the Volusia Memorial , located at 548 N. Nova Road, Ormond Beach, FL 32174. A funeral service will take place at 1:00 P.M. in the chapel following the visitation with the interment to immediately follow the service at Volusia Memorial Park, located at 550 N. Nova Road, Ormond Beach, FL 32174. |
