Obituary: Genevieve DeLisle, a three year resident of Barrington Terrace in Naples, Florida and 16 year resident of Naples, passed away on 4, 2015. Gen was born in Providence, Rhode Island on May 10, 1921. She was an excellent student, an avid tennis player and an accomplished singer and artist. One of her last paintings of Santa Claus became that years official Christmas card for Barrington Terrace. She had a beautiful soprano voice and performed in the Rhode Island Civic Chorale and was a soloist in the church choir at St. Williams Catholic Church in Warwick, Rhode Island. Genevieve joined the US Marine Corps in 1944 during World War II where she met and married the love of her life, a fellow Marine, Bernard DeLisle. Gen and Bernie traveled extensively throughout the United States and Europe on several memorable vacations and often spoke of the wonderful adventures they had on those holidays. Gen loved Las Vegas and Atlantic City where she was known to occasionally try her luck at certain games of chance. Gen was pre-deceased by her beloved husband of 57 years, her parents, Antonetta and Antonio Bucci and three siblings, James Bucci, Irene Pascucci and Mary Cottrell. Gen and Bernie are survived by five children: Patricia Santoro, Oceanside, California, Diane Iannuccilli, Bristol, Rhode Island, Linda DeLisle, Fairfield, Iowa, Bernard DeLisle, Nobleboro, Maine, and Deborah DeLisle, Naples, Florida and by 11 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Gen was loved by her family and her many friends in Rhode Island and Florida. She will be missed by all of us but never forgotten. We are so grateful Gen lived a long and beautiful life. |

Obituary: Joseph M. Delisio, 68, of Oakwood and Port St. Lucie, Fla., a retired teacher who will be remembered for his great outlook on life, died in Hospice House, Fort Pierce, Fla. Mr. Delisio was born in Stapleton and grew up in Grant City. He later lived in Oakwood for 30 years. In retirement he became a snowbird, wintering in Port St. Lucie, Fla. A graduate of St. Peter's Boy's High School, he earned a bachelor's degree in education from Manhattan , the Bronx, and received a master's degree in physical education from the former Richmond , St. George. Mr. Delisio taught at Dreyfus Intermediate School in Stapleton for 33 years, until retiring in 2003. He was an avid New York Yankees and Jets fan, and also enjoyed playing golf. A loving uncle to his many nieces and nephews, he enjoyed being with his extended family and he especially enjoyed sharing holiday meals with his loved ones. Mr. Delisio was laid back and easygoing. His philosophy was, "Never complain about something you can't control," and "What's to be is to be," his family said. He is survived by his brother, John, and his sister, Marianne Sciametta. The funeral will be from the Casey , Castleton Corners, with a mass at 10:15 a.m. in St. Charles Church. Burial will follow in Moravian , New Dorp. |

Obituary: John Kenneth "BUBBLES" DeLisa, Sr., 75, of Safety Harbor, Fl., a retired DSNY worker, died 25th at Mease Countryside Hospital. "Bubbles" was born and raised in New Brighton, SI, and eventually resided in Westerleigh after marrying Carole Urgo in 1961. raising 3 children, the couple moved to the Clearwater area of Florida where John utilized his natural artistic ability to become an Arts and Crafts vendor on Clearwater Beach. His "larger-than-life" personality shone through his avid love of sports. He will truly be missed not only by his family but by all who knew him.
