Obituary: Hobe Sound, Florida - Verna Jennie Delamarter, 90, passed away 20, 2017. She was the oldest daughter of Rev. Abram Wellington Snyder and Marjorie Luella Button, born 28, 1926 in Gloversville, NY. She attended a one room school house in Argusville, NY and was a graduate of Grand Gorge Central School, Grand Gorge, NY. On 10, 1945 she married Robert Eugene Delamarter. For short periods of time they initially lived in the little villages of Fleischman, Halcott , Prattsville and Halcottsville, NY. In 1971 they moved to Grand Gorge where they lived for 22 years. In 1973 they moved to Hobe Sound, Florida where she has lived the past 44 years. For 22 years, Verna played the piano and/ or organ and taught School at the Grand Gorge Pilgrim Holiness Church. She also gave piano and organ lessons to many children in the area. In 1973, after they moved to Florida, she started working as a nurse’s aide (CNA) and a Desk Clerk at Martin Memorial Hospital, Stuart, Florida, retiring after 23 years of service. Her hobbies included journaling, knitting, sewing, crocheting, and making patch quilt blankets that she gave away as gifts. She faithfully attended the Hobe Sound Bible Church. In 2016, age 90, she authored and published a 100 page book about her father and his family, who died when she was 11. Verna is survived by one brother, Paul Abram and Judy (Kolts) Snyder of Stamford, NY. She had 2 sons: Philip and Patricia (Bowlin), Jonathan and Linda (Sowers), and 2 daughters: Naomi and Roger Whippo, and Ruth Faye. She had 9 grandchildren: Davida Lovejoy, Robert A. DeLamarter, Stephanie Cantrell, Jon DeLamarter, Amy Early, Victoria Englund, Roger Whippo, Timothy Whippo, Elizabeth Whippo, and 27 great grand children, whom she dearly loved. Her husband preceded her in death, on 8, 2012. Visitation will be , Feb. 22th, 12-2 PM, and the funeral service at, 2:00 PM, at the Aycock , Young and Prill Chapel , 6801 SE Fed Hwy, Stuart, FL. Dr. David Bubb will conduct the service. Final resting place will be at the Fernhill Memorial Gardens, 1501 S Kanner Hwy, Stuart, FL. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to THE TERRACE OF HOBE SOUND, 9555 SE FED HWY, HOBE SOUND, FL 33455; who, over the last five years, went out of their way to make her comfortable. |
