Obituary: Louis F. Dedeaux 3, 1927 - 5, 2015 Louis F. Dedeaux, 87, of Pensacola, passed away , 5th, 2015, at his home. Born in Gulfport, Mississippi, Louis moved to the Panama Canal Zone at the age of 7 with his family when his father accepted a position of employment. Louis graduated from Balboa High School in the 1947 and attended Oklahoma A & M on an athletic scholarship. He played football his freshman year, then baseball the following three years, graduating with a BS in Education. Louis returned to the Canal Zone in 1951 and began 30 years of service to the Panama Canal . "Coach" Dedeaux worked at Gamboa Elementary School, Gatun Elementary School and Margarita Elementary School as Physical Education Instructor before transferring to Cristobal High School in Coco Solo in 1961. He returned during the summers to Oklahoma State University to earn his Master in Education with a major in Physical Education. He often said he worked in the best place in the world, doing the best job for him, with the best students. He loved coaching and remained in contact with most of his players. were a source of joy and amusement to him. His only regret was that he never wrote a book about them, because every single day something happened to make him laugh. Louis retired in 1981 with 30 years of service with the Canal Zone Government and resided in Pensacola, FL. until his death. Louis was a member of B.P.O. Elks Lodge 1542, University of Florida Friends of the Panama Canal Museum, and the Governors Club of the Panama Canal Society. Louis was preceded in death by his parents, Leon E. and Caroline (Lichentenstein) Dedeaux, brother Leon Dedeaux Jr. and wife Claire, sister Iris (Dedeaux) and husband Richard Hogan, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Harry and Mary Egolf, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Caleb and Ruth Clement, and brother-in-law Richard Egolf. Left to honor and cherish his memory are his devoted wife of 57 years, Barbara ( Egolf ) Dedeaux of Pensacola, FL, and his son Jon Louis Dedeaux and wife Debra of Pace, FL, grandson J Michael Dedeaux of Pace, FL, his granddaughter Sonya Michelle Sigmond, and great grandsons Ethan Joseph and Adin Jack Sigmond, of Corpus Christi, TX, his sister Dorothy Pape of Boynton Beach, FL, and numerous nephews and nieces, who thought the world of Louis ( Uncle, Lou, Coach ). He is also remembered fondly by a host of relatives from the Panama Canal Zone. Memorial services will be held at Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel, 3351 Scenic Hwy., Pensacola, FL, on , 13th, 2015. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by a Memorial service at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, gifts in memory of Louis F. Obituary: Germain L. (Jerry) DeCubellis, of Tampa, Florida, died and was gathered to his fathers on 3, 2015, at the age of 82. He was born on 3, 1933, in Hudson, Florida, the eldest son of Ina (Littell) and Isadore DeCubellis and was raised in New Port Richey with his loving parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins of the DeCubellis and Littell families who were pioneers of Pasco . Jerry had an encyclopedic memory, recalling many stories about his early days in rural Pasco along what is now DeCubellis Road in New Port Richey and in Aripeka. Jerry exhibited notable language skills as a writer and poet while attending Gulf High School, and he later attended the University of Florida, graduating in 1955. He proudly served in the United States Army Medical Corp. with special clearance. While in the Service, Jerry met and fell in love with Wilma Sue (Boone) DeCubellis, the love of his life, and they were married in 1957. Jerry and Sue settled in Tampa where they lived together for the rest of his life. Jerry was the first of his family to attend college and felt blessed to attend the University of Florida. He became involved with and enjoyed campus politics while in college, and was a devoted and lifelong "Gator" enthusiast. During his youth he was deeply affected by the great depression and WWII and was a loyal democrat his entire adult life. Jerry began his career as a dairy farmer operating the family farm with his father and later transitioned to sales and leasing for General Motors. He was recognized by GM as a top contributor, winning many national awards. He ended his working career as an appraisal manager for the Hillsborough Property Appraiser. Jerry was most proud of his children and grandchildren and took special pleasure in their accomplishments. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Wilma Sue (Boone) DeCubellis, his children; Daniel (Diane), Phillip (Annette), Samuel (Alice), and Rebecca (Darren); his grandchildren; Samuel Jr., Lisa, Matthew, Stephen, Michael, Lauren, Johnathan, Joseph, and Nicole; beloved sister, Kay Sue Waddell, and her family; beloved brother, Stephen DeCubellis, and his family; and the family of his late foster brother, Reverend Jesse Kennon. He was preceded in death by his brothers Timothy, Reverend Jesse Kennon, and brother-in-law H. Glenn Waddell. Visitation is at Blount & Curry , Carrollwood Chapel, 3207 W. Bearss Avenue, Tampa, FL 33618 on 18, 2015, from 2 – 4 p.m. A private interment of his ashes will follow at a later date. |
