Obituary: DAWSON, Patricia Anne Mickler “Patty” 77, passed away on 24, 2015 at her home on Clearwater Beach surrounded by her family and friends. Born and raised in Tampa, Mrs. Dawson gradated in 1956 from the Academy of the Holy Names. She attended Florida State University where she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta and involved in student government before graduating in 1959 at age 20. During her high school and college summers she showed saddle bred horses. Mrs. Dawson was married to W. Penn Dawson, Jr., for 45 years, before his death on 20, 2004. met at the coronation ball of Ye Mystic Krewe of Gasparilla. Mr. Dawson had been a member of Ye Mystic Krewe until his death. Throughout the years, Mrs. Dawson enjoyed traveling the world and had visited many remote places such as Timbuktu and Bora Bora. Mrs. Dawson had also been active in community affairs including the Carlouel Yacht Club, Tampa Yacht and Country Club, and Casado Club in Clearwater. She served as the president of the Junior League of Clearwater and, together with her husband, served as the general chairman of the 21st Annual Morton Plant Hospital Charity Ball. Between 1985 and 1993, Mrs. Dawson served as the president of the Mickler Corporation, a bank holding company. She is pre-deceased by her husband, her parents, S.C. Mickler and Casilda L. Mickler, and her sister, Laura M. Bentley. Mrs. Dawson is survived by her two sons, W. Penn Dawson III, a Jesuit currently missioned to Toronto, Canada, and Seymour C.M. “Sim” Dawson of Clearwater. She is also survived by her cousin, Charles Tilden and his wife Gerri, and by a nephew, C. Mickler Bentley, his wife Shirley Bentley and two sons, Lee and Colin Bentley. There will be a viewing between 6:00 and 8:00 pm on , 28 at Blount & Curry , 605 S MacDill Ave and a graveside service on at 10:30 am at Myrtle Hill , 4002 N 50th Street Tampa, FL.
