Obituary: Davis, Margaret Anderson “Peggy” Peggy Davis, 90, peacefully passed away surrounded by loved ones on 29. She lived a wonderful life filled with joy, wonder, and most of all, love. Peggy was born in Tampa, one of seven children born within a ten year period to Arthur (Jack) and Jane Barritt Anderson. her parents divorced, her siblings and she were raised by their supportive and loving mother and grandparents. Peggy graduated from Jefferson High School where she was voted the outstanding female student and the girl with the prettiest smile. She graduated from the University of Tampa with a degree in education and began teaching school in Tampa. In 1954-55, she spent a year in Japan teaching children on an American military base. In 1955, Peggy married the love of her life, Reverend Edwin S. Davis (Ed) at Palma Ceia United Methodist Church. Peggy was a member of the church and had begun dating Ed when he became the Associate Pastor at the church. She then settled into the challenging and rewarding life of a minister’s wife. Peggy and Ed moved to Temple Terrace when Ed founded Temple Terrace United Methodist Church. During this time, their two children, Meg and Edwin, were born. In 1963, Ed went on active duty as an Air Force chaplain. The following 28 years took Peggy and her family to Maine, Germany, Fort Walton Beach, Montgomery, Washington D.C., Colorado, England, Tampa, Alaska, and Ohio (in that order). Ed retired as a Colonel in 1991, he and Peggy returned to Tampa and spent their retirement years on Watrous Avenue in the home that Peggy’s mother had lived in. When asked how she enjoyed retirement, she said, "Ed retired, not me." Peggy was a devout Christian who believed in the inherent goodness of all God's children. She devoted her life to putting others ahead of herself and was always active in countless church, civic, military, and charitable organizations. Church and PEO were especially meaningful. She was the epitome of southern grace and charm. She was genuinely caring and kind, quick to smile, and full of love. Peggy cherished time with family and friends. Peggy, Mother, Grandmommy, Greatgrandmommy, Pepe, and Aunt Peggy loved deeply and was deeply loved. She was pre-deceased by Ed, her parents, and her brothers and sisters and their spouses, Jane Trawick (Jack), Martha Morris (Bill), Jack Anderson, Jim Anderson (Jackie), Straub (Connie), and Hugh Anderson. She is survived by her children, Margaret (Meg) Whitney, Tampa, and Edwin Davis (Barbara), Ponce Inlet; her grandchildren, Kristen Nash (Ethan), St. Leo, and Erik Whitney, Tampa; her great-grandson, Colt Anderson Nash (3 months old); and many loving relatives and friends. Visitation will be held at Blount & Curry MacDill Chapel, 605 S. MacDill Ave., on , 5, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. A funeral service celebrating Peggy's life will be held at Palma Ceia United Methodist Church, 3723 W.
