Obituary: Scott Michael Drew On May 20, 1980 an angel was brought onto this Earth in Phoenix, AZ - his name was Scott Michael Drew. On 30, 2012 our Lord returned him to Heaven peacefully after a long courageous fight with Cystic Fibrosis. During his short 32 years here with us, he brought untold joy, laughs and a quick smile to anyone he met. Scott graduated in 1998 from Mountain Pointe High School in Ahwatukee where he played on the tennis team. He followed in the family footsteps and attended ASU and was an avid Sun Devil fan. He enjoyed tennis, gaming, programming, family get togethers, the beach, Comic-Con, Little League World Series, soccer and muscle cars. Scotts passing leaves a huge hole in the hearts of all who knew him. He leaves behind his mother; Debbie (Ken) Kieselbach, father John (Kate) Drew; grandmother; Florence Hitt, brothers; Ryan, David and Michael Drew, sisters; Kameran Drew, Chris Dotts and Tracey Perez, uncles; Don (Hollie) Drew and Michael (Christa) Hitt. He is preceded in his passing by his grandfather; Gordon Hitt, and his grandfather and grandmother; Dan and Donna Drew and his mans best friend, Max. A private Celebration of Life will be held for family and friends. A special thanks to the staff at the Heart & Lung Institute, Cardio-thoracic Unit of St. Josephs Hospital and Arizona Public Service (Palo Verde) for their tremendous support. Obituary: Drucilla (Sims) Drew, 92, of Mesa, Arizona passed away on 26, 2014. Drucilla was born on 21, 1922 in Berryville, Arkansas to her parents Wade and Roxie Sims. She is survived by her three children Jody Herrington, Clyde Clark, and Buddy Clark (deceased); her 8 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters and brothers; Lila Ollis (Cranberry, N. Carolina), Laverne Trusdell (Harrison, Arkansas), Junie Cantrell (Everton, Missouri), Viva Jacobs (Tempe, Arizona), Ulyses (Gary) Sims (Alsea, Oregon), and Lenis Sims (Harrison, Arkansas). She is preceded in death by her parents Wade and Roxie Sims and by her sister and brothers; Nellie McBryde, James Sims, and Sydney Sims. A memorial service will be held at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church located at 142 N. Date St. Mesa, 85201 on , 4 at 11:00 am. Followed by a final burial at Mesa . There will be a luncheon following the burial at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church. Drucilla, or Dru as many know her by, was born and raised in the Ozark Mountains of Arkansas. She was the second eldest of 10 brothers and sisters. In 1938, at the early age of 16, Drucilla was married. In 1939, she became a mother to her 1st son , Clyde Lewis. leaving Denver, Colorado they moved to Big Piney, Wyoming in 1942, where her and her husband worked on a ranch as a cook and a farmhand. A year later, in 1943 she became the mother of her 2nd son, Buddy Ray. Due to life altering events and her health she moved to Mesa, Arizona in 1952. In 1955, she became a mother to her 3rd child, a baby girl, Jody Drucilla. She worked as a waitress until 1974, some of the places she worked were Encke s Steakhouse, El Charrito, Montis La Casa Vieja, and Velda Rose. She always told great stories of working at the Maricopa Inn during the early 1960s. Where she served her favorite customers, the Chicago Cubs when they would come to Mesa for spring training. She also worked a short time for Motorola; where she claimed to be very accurate at her job. From 1975 to 1997, she worked in advertising for the local T.V. Digest until she retired. She spent her retirement enjoying time with her family and friends. taking care of her family and in the work force for 70 years she could finally, just rest! We will certainly miss being sent home with a loaf of Grandma Drews Banana Bread. God bless and may she rest in peace in the Lords Kingdom. |
