Obituary: George Thomas Tom Daniels, age 83, of Sugar Hill, Georgia, passed away on 9, 2014 in Cumming, Georgia. Born in 1931 in Winter Haven, Florida to Heyward Thomas Daniels and Myrtle Herrington Daniels, he graduated from Winter Haven High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, serving as an Airman First Class during the Korean War. Following his service, he returned to Winter Haven and married Elouise Smith. Together they had four children: Julie, Karen, Alan and Matthew. Tom earned an Associate Degree at Polk Community as a member of their charter class, and attended the University of South Florida. He had a long career with State Farm Insurance in Winter Haven and Atlanta, retiring in 1994. He was an active member of the church and choir at Parkway Baptist Church in Duluth, Georgia. Tom had many different hobbies. In his 20s he built cars for the Daniels Racing Team, racing cars at various NASCAR tracks, including the Daytona dirt track. He was an avid hiker, spending many days on the Appalachian and Florida Trails. In his retirement, he enjoyed golfing and perfected his woodworking skills. His childrens homes are blessed with many of the pieces he crafted. Tom is survived by his children Julie Thomas (Joel), Auburndale, FL; Karen Hoyt (Tyler) Alpharetta, GA; Alan Daniels (Arleta) Duluth, GA; and LT Matthew Daniels (CAPT David Hammell) Springfield, VA; grandchildren Sean, Jake, Connor, Emily, Clarisse and Serena,; sister Jeanne Rose (Joe), brother Frank Daniels (Annette), sister-in-law Patsy Daniels, former wife and friend Elouise McManis, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Albert Daniels and niece Joanne Daniels. A memorial and burial of remains will be held at 2:00pm, , 22, at Ott-Laughlin and Glen Abbey Memorial Gardens in Auburndale, Florida with a reception to immediately follow. Memorial contributions are welcome, and if desired, may be made to The American Diabetes Foundation, St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital, or The Winter Haven Hospital Foundation. Obituary: Florence Clark Daniels, 94, of Jacksonville Florida passed away on 17, 2015 at Earl B. Hadlow . Memorial Services will be held at 10:00AM 30, 2015 at San Jose Catholic Church, Father Gregory Fay officiating. Burial will follow at Oaklawn . Florence was born in Loretto Tennessee on 5, 1921 to Albert Bernard Hollander and Frances Catherine Clark. From infancy she was raised in Birmingham, Alabama by her aunt and uncle, John and Beulah Clark. Florence graduated from St. Paul High School in Birmingham where she sang as a soloist and member of the choir. During her school years, Florence also sang on the local radio station in Birmingham, Alabama. Throughout her life, she enjoyed playing the piano and organ and studied with Keyboard Connections in Jacksonville, Florida. Florence was married to C/SM (Ret) Charles Edwin Daniels on 17, 1939. were married 67 years. Florence worked as an accountant for various companies and organizations in different cities and military posts where her husband was stationed during his 25 years of service in the United States Army. Florence is preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. Daniels; sons, Stephen C. Daniels, Guy E. Daniels, John P. Daniels; daughter, Ruth Ann Daniels Gutman; and daughter-in-law, Shay Howell Daniels (Douglas); as well as three brothers, John Clark , Eugene and William Hollander; and three sisters, Evelyn Clark, Frances and Jewel Hollander. Florence is survived by her son, Charles H. Daniels, Jacksonville Beach; daughter, Leslie L. Daniels, Ph.D. Jacksonville; son, Douglas L. Daniels, Houston, Texas; and daughter-in-law, Deborah Daniels (Guy); 13 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the Northeast Florida Community Hospice, Earl B. Hadlow , 4266 Sunbeam Road, Jacksonville, Florida 32257 or to San Jose Catholic Church, 3619 Toledo Road, Jacksonville, Florida 32217. |
