Obituary: Alice Jean De Vries, née Alice Jean Snapper, went peacefully home to her Lord and Savior in the early morning of 18, 2015, at Brookdale Assisted Living in Chandler, Arizona. She was 79. She spent her final day listening to hymns and stories about her precious grandchildren and children. Alice's faith, friends and family sustained her through a year of ill health prior to her passing. Alice was born at home in Lynden, Washington to the late Clarence Snapper and the late Marcella Alberta Snapper on May 19, 1935. attending the Reformed Bible in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Alice married Calvin Seminary Graduate Rev. Willard Henry De Vries. Alice and Willard served Christian Reformed churches in Brooten, MN; Oskaloosa, IA; Hull, IA; Moline, MI and Lodgepole SD. Alice was known for faithfully visiting the sick and housebound with her husband, singing an occasional solo at church when Willard convinced her to and for warmly welcoming people at church and everywhere she went. Alice is survived by her two daughters, Margaret Susan Rice (Warren) of Mesa, AZ and Katherine Jean Fuller (Jonathan) of Phoenix, AZ and grandchildren Nathanael John-Caleb Fuller (Grace), Jessica Jordan Leigh Fuller and Samuel Stephen James Fuller. She is also survived by siblings Nell (Bob) Thompson, Don (Elaine) Snapper, Clarence Lee (Sharon) Snapper, and Mari Timmer as well as many nieces and nephews. Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Willard Henry De Vries and sister Katherine Margaret Miedema. Memorial services will be held 24, 2015 at 3:30 p.m. at Palm Lane Christian Reformed Church, 7320 East Palm Lane, Scottsdale, AZ 85257. Alice was a faithful follower of Christ, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She will be missed. |
