Obituary: Janet Degen passed away on 20, just 16 days after celebrating her 79th birthday. Janet was a New Jersey native who moved to Colorado Springs in 1995. She was a loving wife to Herman Degen until his passing in 2005. Janet leaves behind 2 sons, Wayne (Northvale, NJ) and Garry (Colorado Springs, CO) and their wives, Lauren and Lenora. She also leaves 3 grandsons, Wayne of Odenton, MD, and his wife, Nancy, Alex of Colorado Springs and Phillip of Colorado Springs. 2 great-grandchildren, Wayne Michael Jr. and Madison, of Odenton, MD also survive her. Janet worked for many years in various clerical and office positions in New Jersey, as well as with her husband Herman in his construction business. She was a an enthusiastic volunteer most of her life, active in childrens education, libraries, eye and vision health, the Lions Club, Cheyenne Mountain Village, and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Until her health failed, Janet was an avid traveler. Cruises to Alaska and Panama were among her fondest memories. Visitation will be at Swan Law on from 2 - 4 pm. Service will be , 24, 2011 at 2 pm at Swan Law Cascade Chapel. In lieu of flowers, Janet requested that donations be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation www.cff.org. under the direction of Swan-Law Directors, Colorado Springs, CO. |

Obituary: ina DeFries went home with the Lord on , 19, 2014, after a brief stay at Bonell Good Samaritan . Her life here ended after battling Parkinsons and dementia. She was born in North Platte, Nebraska, and was raised in Northport, Nebraska, where she graduated from Bridgeport High School, something she was always very proud of. Tina married Fermin Martinez in 1962. had five children together whom they raised in Ft. Morgan, Colorado. Her husband passed away in 1985 and she later married Rick DeFries in of 2000. made their home in Oak Harbor, Washington, and later returned to Colorado. Tina worked as a Dietary Aide and later a kitchen supervisor at the Ft. Morgan Hospital. She lived her life centered around her family. She loved when they could gather and enjoy a meal together. She was a homemaker making the best tamales, sewing, crocheting, and keeping a very tidy home. She loved butterflies, combing the beaches, seeing different parts of the U.S., and trekking weather events around the world. Tina is survived by her husband Rick of Greeley, Colorado; son and daughter-in-law Matthew and Gina Martinez of Greeley; daughter and son-in-law Lori and Jim Lechman of Evans; daughter and son-in-law Andrea and Doug Christensen of Brighton; daughter Rachel Martinez of Austin, Texas and son and daughter-in-law Aaron and Lana Martinez of Oak Harbor, Washington; grandchildren Trevor, Adam, Jayme, Jenny, Samuel, Sydney, Kale, Lars, Tara and Nicoyia; sisters Mary Benavides of Gering, Nebraska, Vicky Aris of Cheyenne, Wyoming, Delores Ayala of Phoenix, Arizona, Micaela Camarillo of Lummi Island, Washington and Pat and Frank Gonzales of Oak Harbor, Washington; brothers Vic and Barb Vasquez of Discovery Bay, California, Lee and Susan Vasquez of Coralville, Iowa, and Marce Vasquez of Bayard, Nebraska, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Tina was preceded in death by her parents, Ventura and Jacinto Vasquez, her husband Fermin Martinez and brothers Demas Vasquez and Alfonso Vasquez. service will be held at 2:00 p.m. , 22, 2014 at Calvary Chapel of Greeley. Richard served his country honorably in the United States Air Force. He was an engineer, working in the telecommunication industry. Obituary: Richard Hugh Rick DeForest, age 51, of Fort Collins, CO, passed away on , 22nd after a valiant battle with prostate cancer. Rick was born on 7, 1966 in Torrance, CA, to Terrye and Richard. He is survived by his parents, Terrye Wiggins (George) of Laramie, WY and Richard DeForest of Evergreen, CO; his siblings, Steve DeForest of Cedar Rapids, IA, John DeForest (Jeanne) of Longmont, CO, Kris DeForest (John) of Englewood, CO, Lea DeForest (Dan) of Elgin, TX, and Kellie DeForest (Brandon) of Lakewood, CO; niece Melissa Cox; nephews Nick Cox, Jack DeForest and Cato Grace; beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins; and many, many close friends. Rick grew up in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Monmouth, Illinois, where he graduated Warren High School in 1984. He attended Carl Sandburg in Galesburg, IL and studied auto mechanics. He lived near Horsetooth Reservoir in Ft. Collins, Colorado, and was most recently employed as a machinist by Woodward Governor. Rick was an avid biker and a talented mechanic who could fix anything on wheels, and was fascinated by tools of all kinds. Rick loved riding his Harley on sunny days, attending the annual Sturgis bike rally in the Black Hills of South Dakota, hunting elk with his dad and brothers in the Rocky Mountains, fishing on the Mississippi River with friends and family in Illinois, hitting junkyards and fixing up old cars in his driveway, cracking jokes over beers, helping his family and friends with home projects and car repairs, and reading everything from Maxim to Marx. Rick loved his family and was deeply devoted to his friends. When he was a little boy Rick was standoff-ish and shy, but grew to be a man who loved fearlessly. He was a smart, kind, fun and generous person with a hilarious wit and a big heart. If there was a bank account for favors and helping people out Rick made a lot of deposits and few withdrawals. Rick was constantly concerned about the needs and feelings of those around him – parents, siblings, friends, nurses – until the day he died. Everyone who knew Rick will have a big hole to fill now that hes gone. We miss him so much. A celebration of Ricks life will take place on , 27, and anyone who knew and loved him is invited to attend.
