Obituary: William Rees Davis was born 10, 1928 near Lafayette, Colorado. He was the son of William and Lela Davis. He had 5 brothers and sisters and they grew up in the Arvada area. He attended school in the Arvada and Golden. He and his brother FA had a variety of stories about their adventures in the city of Arvada and the surrounding area. his parents passed away, he lived with local farmers and ranchers. He had stories about his time with these families and frequently visited them. He joined the Navy in 1946 and spent time in Attu in the Aleutian Islands. He worked in the laundry there. He returned to Arvada in 1947 and stayed with a family friend in Arvada, CO. He started an apprenticeship at Gump Glass in 1948. He worked there for a number of years and later for Dalco (another glass company). He cut the glass, while working at Gumps, for the Air Force Academy Chapel complex in Colorado Springs, CO. He had a lifelong interest in history, fishing/hunting, and antique cars. He spent time with his family camping, being the ski trip/skating chauffeur, and helped his girls with their various school projects. He later spent time with his grandchildren and did similar trips and projects with them. he retired, he spent many hours restoring his Studebaker cars. He and his wife Gertie enjoyed traveling to the various Glidden Tours with the motor home and their cars. also enjoyed taking their grandchildren on camping adventures. He taught them all how to fish, took them sledding and skiing. He loved to take people out to breakfast or dinner whenever he could. He passed on 7, 2016. He will be buried in South Dakota. Please make donations to your favorite charity or take your family out to eat in honor of him. Obituary: Vivian Lucille (Merten) Davis passed away peacefully 15, 2015. She was born in Des Moines, IA. 28, 1924 to Harris and Ada Belle (Lund) Merten. Vivian graduated from East High School in Des Moines in 1942. She married her childhood sweetheart, Howard Davis, Jr. on 21, 1942. Howard, the love of her life, preceded her in death on 8, 1995 after 53 years of marriage. A year after Howard got out of the military service, Howard and his family moved to Pueblo, CO. Vivian worked at White and Davis Department Store, Town Talk Bread , and the Star Bread in the bread store for 17 years. Vivian was a member of Central Christian Church and CWF Group 4, the Canasta Club, Crazy Eights, the Veteran Motor Car Club of America, the Model A Ford Car Club and the Southern Colorado As. Howard and Vivian traveled from state to state in their 1929 Model A Ford. Vivian enjoyed shopping, especially antique shops, looking specifically for pretty dishes and sweet dolls for her collection, and she loved family gatherings. were blessed with three children, Howard III (Marshia) Davis of Brighton, Co., Maureen (Bruce) Miller of Melbourne, Florida and Frederick Sr. (Wende) Davis of Pueblo West, CO. Vivian had nine grandchildren, Dixie (Steve) Oltman of Utica, NE., Mandie (Jerry) Mousseau of Utica, NE., Daniel (Ruth) Potter of Stewart, NE., Preston (Heather) Davis of Centennial, CO., Stacy (Darren) Horning of Thornton, CO., Nichelle Miller of Ft. Collins, CO., Natalie (Gary) Hardey of Melbourne, Fl., Domonique Davis of Pueblo West, Co, and Frederick Jr. (Olga) Davis of Pueblo, Co. She had 16 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren. She is also survived by former daughter-in-law Rose Keeling. Vivian was the youngest of five children, brothers Kenneth, Russell, Neil and sister Beulah Moore who preceded her in death. The family will greet friends from 5 - 6 P.M. 17, 2015 at Adrian Comer Garden Chapel, 2710 N. Elizabeth St., Pueblo, Co. with services being held at Adrian Comer Garden Chapel, 2 P.M. , 18, 2015 with The Reverend Dan Weaver officiating, Interment to follow at Roselawn Cemetary. A gathering will be held at Central Christian Church, 1902 N. Hudson, following Interment to celebrate Vivians life. Vivians family would like to thank all of her friends and Legacy Commons for their love, care and support giving her a full and fun life. |
