Obituary: Lanny R. Drews, 76, of Sheboygan, died at St. Nicholas Hospital on morning, 29, 2011, following a sudden onset of cancer. In his final hours, Lanny was surrounded by his loving family. Lanny was born 17, 1935 in Sheboygan to Ralph and Marie (Berger) Drews. He attended Bethlehem Lutheran School, Farnsworth Middle School before graduating from Sheboygan Central High School, Class of 1954. On 6, 1957 Lanny married the love of his life, Patricia Fessler. Lanny and Patti were owners of the Hoffbrau Supper Club, in Sheboygan, for 35 years until the business was sold in of 1986. Lanny was a member of Holy Name Parish, where he served as usher. He was also a member of the Sheboygan Knights of Columbus, past president of the Sheboygan Tavern League, and shared many friendships at the Sheboygan YMCA. Lanny was well known for his skills playing the stumpf fiddle, a Sheboygan based instrument. He loved to spend quality time with his children and grandchildren. Many will remember Patti and Lanny taking their daily walks together. In addition to his wife, Patti, Lanny is survived by five children, Terri (Ed Getz) Drews of Evanston, IL, Tami (Tom) Pollock of Maple Grove, MN, Tim Drews of Ft. Myers, FL, Todd Drews of Sheboygan, and Tricia (Scott) Schneider of Appleton, WI; nine grandchildren, Jordan, Kaila, and Sarah Pollock; Rachel, Mara, and Julia Getz; Leah, Braden, and Noah Schneider; a sister, Beverly Gephard of Sheboygan; other family members and many friends. In addition to his parents, Lanny was preceded in death by a brother, Tommy. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated , 11:00 A.M. at Holy Name Catholic Church. Entombment will take place in Calvary Mausoleum. A time of visitation and support will be held at Ballhorn Chapels on from 2 - 7:00 P.M. and at church from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the memorial fund, established in his name, would be appreciated. Lanny will always be remembered for his zest for life, his laughter and fun-loving spirit. |
