Obituary: Evelyn Naomi Dorenbush Evelyn Naomi Dorenbush, 86, died Feb. 6, 2011. She was born and raised in Sebeka, Minnesota and was a longtime Sumner resident. Evelyn retired from the Puget Sound Bulb Exchange, moved to their Mason beachfront property and returned to Puyallup in 1991. She was a member of Sumner Presbyterian Church, Sumner VFW Post and was active in Ki-Hi-Wa-Hees. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ervin and brothers, Marlyn and Leroy Bateman. Evelyn will be greatly missed by her children, Sandra (Paul) Ehnat, Richard (Marcia) Dorenbush and Steve (Joy) Dorenbush, all of Puyallup; brother, George (Barb) Bateman; and sister-in-law, Marcella Bateman of Sumner, 7 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Obituary: Virginia Van Doren passed away on , May 13, 2017, at Cottage in the Meadow. Virginia was born 14, 1937 to Kimball and Virginia Schmella and was raised on the family farm in Toppenish, Washington. She attended school in Toppenish and graduated valedictorian of her class in 1955. She attended Yakima Valley and Central Washington University, where she earned her bachelors degree in education. Virginia taught in the Yakima School District for over 30 years, dedicating her time and talents to students at Whitney Elementary School and Wilson Middle School. She was dearly loved by her students and their parents. Virginia is survived by her sister, Ellen Shalton, her daughters Angela Pratt and Julie Layman; sister Mary Deviny, her husband Jim, their children Christopher Deviny, Greg Deviny, and Susan Hinds; brother John Schmella, his wife Sandy, their children Stewart Schmella and Tiffany ; great nephews Andrew and Alex Richardson, Michael and Jacob Layman, Patrick Hinds, Neil Schmella, Sidney , Luke Deviny; and great nieces Anna Richardson, Julia Deviny, Ida Mary , Laney Schmella, and Mary Elizabeth Hinds. Virginia was preceded in death by her loving husband, Lee, her parents, Kimball and Virginia Schmella, and her nephew, Patrick Deviny. Virginia was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and one of its strongest supporters. Visitation will be from 5 pm to 8 pm, , May 21st at Keith & Keith with a Vigil service starting at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., , May 22nd at Holy Family Catholic Church. Obituary: Lee Van Doren passed away , 4, 2013 as a result of complications from surgery. Lee was born 5, 1925 to Raymond & Pauline Van Doren and grew up in Wiley City attending schools in West Valley and graduated from Yakima High School in 1953. Lee was an educator, taught and coached for 10 years at Summitview Elementary before moving to the Yakima School District in 1967. He was at Whitney Elementary for many years before finishing his career at Wilson Middle School. He was a member of the Army Reserves for seven years and a member and officer of the West Valley Fire Department for forty years. He was a lifetime member of NEA and had been active in Retired Teachers and a life time member of WEA. Lee was a beloved husband and uncle. He is survived by his loving wife, Virginia; a sister Louise, her husband Wayne Worby, and their children, Lisa & Cody Freeze and Brad & Michelle Worby; sister-in-law Ellen Shalton, her children Angela Richardson & Julie Layman; sister-in-law Mary Deviny, her husband Jim, their children Chris & Greg Deviny and Susan Hinds; brother-in-law John Schmella, wife Sandy, their children Stewart Schmella & Tiffany ; nephews Andrew & Alex Richardson, Michael & Jacob Layman, Thomas Worby and Weston Freeze; and nieces, Anna Richardson and Emily Freeze. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Pauline Van Doren, and his nephew Patrick Deviny. Lee was a very loving and generous grandfather to the Richardson and Layman children. He was a member of Holy Family Church and one of its strongest supporters. A Vigil will be 7:00 p.m. , 6, 2013 at Keith & Keith .
