Obituary: MARION RUTH DOERR Marion Ruth (Miles) Doerr was born to Robert C. Miles and Maria (Aalund) Miles in Ashley, N.D. 26th 1910. At the age of 100, Marion passed away on 16th 2011 at Memorial Hospital in Yakima, WA. marrying Henry Doerr, 29th, 1934, they moved to Bismark, N.D. Where their only son, James Henry Doerr, was born in 1936. moved to Yakima in 1938. Marion went to Yakima Business School. She worked as a secretary for the Yakima School District. She also worked for the Yakima Valley Community until her retirement. Marion and Henry built their home on 56th Ave. in 1954. She lived there the remainder of her life. Marion enjoyed spending time with her family, friends, gardening, playing bridge, and she was a creative crafter. She enjoyed cooking traditional German dishes for her family. She was a devout member of the Wesley Methodist Church. Marion loved her country and was very patriotic. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and Colonial Dames. She was preceded in death by her Husband Henry and son James Doerr. She is survived by two grandchildren, Jodie Thompson of Yakima, Brad Doerr and wife Michelle of Bowling Green, KY. Five great grandchildren, Tyler and Carrie of Yakima; Patrick, Jeremy, and Braydon of Bowling Green, KY. Three great great grandchildren, Cade, Zach, and Ethan of Yakima. Many thanks to Cora Braten and all the folks at Harmony House for the warm loving care they gave to our Grandma during the final months of her life. Memorial services will be conducted on 21, 2011 at 10:00 in the Keith & Keith Terrace Heights Chapel. Obituary: Alvina Christine Doerr 5, 1922 - May 31, 2016 Alvina (Vi) Christine (Lorenz) Doerr, 93, formerly of Bellevue, Washington, died morning, May 31, at Bickford Memory in Lafayette, Indiana. The daughter of Herman and Bertha Lorenz, she was born 5, 1922, and raised in Minot, North Dakota, with two younger siblings. completing high school, she attended one year at Valparaiso University, pursuing music studies as part of her lifelong love of music and singing. During World War II, she met Albert Robert (Bob) Doerr in San Francisco while he was serving in the Navy and she was participating in a church singing group at a church convention. were married 20, 1946, and moved to Chicago where she worked for Popular Mechanics magazine. In 1956 her husband accepted a position at Boeing and they moved to Seattle where they spent the rest of their married life. During an economic downturn in the early 1960s, Alvina re-entered the workforce, and within a few years accepted a bookkeeping position with Farmers New World Life Insurance on Mercer Island. Her outgoing personality, cheerful countenance and love of conversing with both friends and strangers endeared her to virtually everyone she met. Committed to her faith in Christ and true to her conservative values, she attended church regularly and was involved with Concerned Women for America. She also pursued personal growth through her membership in Toastmasters. retiring from a long and stable career with Farmers, she continued to enjoy outings and get-togethers with former work colleagues, friends and neighbors. Following her husbands passing in 2004, she remained at her home in Bellevue until 2010 when she moved to live with the family of her youngest son in Lafayette, Indiana. In keeping with her character, she quickly developed a new circle of friends, finding ways to be a blessing to others even during her final days. She is survived by her three sons, Robert (Marianne) of Bellevue, WA, Keith of Kansas City, KS, and Kevin (Mari) of Lafayette, IN, seven grandchildren and one great-granddaughter, as well as her sister-in-law, Beverly Lorenz of Minot, ND, and many nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her brother, Herman and sister, Lillian Hawthorne. A memorial service 4. , 12, at 2:00 p.m., at the Sunset Hills , 1215 145th Place SE, Bellevue, WA 98007, with a private viewing one hour prior. A public burial service will follow at 10:15 a.m. on , 13, at Tahoma National in Kent, WA. Guests are advised to arrive 20-30 minutes early.
