Neil was especially proud and fond of his James office team which grew from 10 to 45 staff during his tenure. He was twice recognized as Boss of the Year by the Insurance Women of Yakima and, also, received the Insurance Industry Appreciation Award. Neil was always on the go and enjoyed traveling with Doris, personal friends and business associates to England, Scotland, France, Denmark, East Africa, Hawaii, and Mexico. Besides visiting his daughters, Neil especially, enjoyed his fishing trips to his cousins ranch in Montana and winter escapes to join Yakima friends in Palm Springs. He was notorious for his blue highway trips through the back roads of Washington and a ride through the Yakima -Ellensburg Canyon or Chinook Pass was a frequent outing to look for wildlife. Neil enjoyed the pursuit to collect antiques across the country

Neil also enjoyed the comforts of being at home. He was a family man and enjoyed entertaining at home; especially during the holidays. He was especially proud of his wife Doris, and their two daughters personal and profession accomplishments. He was a father figure to many of his daughters friends. He encouraged education, and inspired all who knew him, to achieve their maximum goals and potential. Neil was a loyal, fun loving friend to many and easily struck up conversation. He especially liked his Coffee Guys and looked forward to their morning ritual of stories and coffee.

Neil was an avid bird hunter, golfer, tennis and card player. He received the title of Duplicate Bridge Master in 2010 and picked up a card game where ever he travelled. He was a member of the Yakima Country Club and the Yakima Tennis Club. Throughout his life, sports played an important role. He lettered in all high school athletics and baseball was his passion. In his earlier years he played and coached for a semi -pro team and coached his daughters softball teams. He was a devoted Mariners fan and kept up with the scores and players til the very end.
He is survived by his wife Doris Ann Dickinsen, (Dame) and daughters Denise Lynn Dickinsen, Columbia, SC and Christine Kay Dickinsen (Larry Jones) Vancouver, WA and his brother Dale Dickinsen, a WI. He is preceded in death by his eldest brother Milton Red Dickinsen, 2011, his parents and his faithful hunting companions, Tippy, Ralph and Max.
