Obituary: A loving Heavenly Father welcomed home our father, grandfather, uncle and friend Robert (Bob) Eugene Dillenbeck in the early hours of 22, 2013. He was born at home in West Los Angeles on 24, 1925 to Frank Eugene and Loretta Martin Dillenbeck. He spent the early years of his life in southern California helping his dad in their meat markets and in his spare time enjoyed training his pet raccoon and raising the other animals he had as pets. Dad graduated from University High School in 1944. He then served in the United States Navy during World War II as a cook onboard an LST personnel carrier. the war ended, he returned to assist with the family business then eventually came to Utah to attend BYU where he met Erma Allman. were married 23, 1948 in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they had seven sons: Gary (Ellen), Vern (Beth), Steve (Chris), Paul, David (Laurie), John, and Robert II, and one daughter, Julie (Kyle) Shepherd. Erma passed away in a car accident in 1972. He then married Ferl Miller Drummond on 1, 1973 in the Provo Temple. She added two children to the mix, Randy (Kathy) Drummond and Kathleen (Kevin) Gordon. Dad graduated from BYU in 1964. His chosen profession was as a Public Sanitarian and he worked for both the Los Angeles Department and then the Utah Department. He also used the training from his dad as a meat cutter and worked for several stores including Safeway in Provo for many years. He retired from the Utah Department in 1987. He continued using his meat cutting skills at home after many successful hunting trips. His hobbies, interests and loves included camping, hunting, fishing, reading, woodworking, gardening, traveling, and a good bowl of ice cream. He loved the Utah landscape and after returning from travels would claim no place was as pretty as Utah. He also enjoyed sports and attended BYU basketball and football games for many years as a season ticket holder. Dad had a great love for the Boy Scout program and was very proud to say five of his sons earned their Eagle Scout awards. As a youth, he couldn complete the swimming and lifesaving merit badge requirements due to inner ear problems. He did, however, earn 32 other merit badges. impressing the Boy Scout organization with a compilation of his numerous youth and adult scouting awards and achievements, Dad became the oldest person in Utah to earn his Eagle Scout badge at the age of 82. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. His testimony of the gospel, Joseph Smith, and his Savior never wavered. He held many positions including priest quorum advisor, school teacher, ward mission leader, ward clerk, high priest group leader, stake high council member, and a temple worker. He is survived by his wife Ferl, all 10 children, 36 grandchildren, and 41 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Erma, his brothers Frank and Marion Dillenbeck, his sister Beverly Ann Hess, two daughters-in-law Pam and Marilyn, as well as three grandchildren Aaron, Brittney and Samantha.
