Benson) Dorothy Dansie, 93, passed away peacefully in her sleep on 17, 2016 at Holladay center from complications of pneumonia. Dorothy was born at her parents home in Salt Lake City, Utah on 20, 1922 to Mahonri M. & Lillie Estella Dansie. She was one of 7 children. Dorothy graduated from South High school and started college at BYU . She quit school after an accident and did not return, having found her professional niche. She worked first at the telephone company, for a brief period at Standard Oil, and retired as an office professional from State of Utah. Dorothy was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in a number of Church callings, most notably: the ward librarian for many years in the Hillcrest Ward, as well as serving a post-war short term mission to Los Angeles, CA. Dorothy was an avid reader and enjoyed keeping well-versed on the local news . She loved to travel, taking her parents on proverbial oad trips with her, and investing in a movie camera and projector. She became the family photographer, documenting her travel and family events with her talented camera which she shared on her projector with any and all who would watch. Although Dorothy was an opinionated person, letting those around her know exactly how she liked things and how she didn , at the same she possessed an incredible sense of humor, which remained with her into her senior years. Just before her death she was told Don go chasing after the boys! to which he replied, Oh, I won be doing that soon! Dorothy was an excellent housekeeper who cared lovingly for her parents until their death, her mother Lillie Estella passing away in 1968 and her father, Mahonri Moriancumer, who passed away in May of 1988. Even though stern, Aunt Dorothy was loved by her nieces and nephews. In some amazing way she made them feel special, never forgetting Christmas gifts and treating them with grand-motherly love and kindness. In her later years she endeared herself to friends and family alike, asking about how they were doing and praising them for the things they did. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, LeRoy and Wesley, and sisters Fern, Jessa, and Mildred and their spouses. She is survived by a sister Estella Dansie Benson, and brother-in-law, William O. Copeland. services will be held , 23, 2016 at 12:00 noon at the Holladay 26th Ward Chapel, 4601 South Chapel Drive (2565 E), Salt Lake City, Utah. Family and friends are invited to a viewing at the chapel prior to the funeral service from 10:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. Interment will follow at the Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, 3401 S Highland Drive. . |
