Obituary: Richard Dick, Richie, Yank Willard Dyer entered into his heavenly life on , 10, 2016. Dick was born 22, 1936, in South Paris, Maine, to Harold Willard Dyer and Gladys Dyer. Raised in Norway, Maine, he was a gifted athlete and lettered all four years in high school football, basketball and baseball. high school Dick entered the U.S. Navy where he served four years continuing to play baseball and basketball for various U.S. Naval stations. completing his naval duty at Kingsville Naval Air Station, Kingsville, Texas, he attended Sam Houston State University where he played four years in baseball. While at Sam Houston he was president of Alpha Chi, Vice President Sam Houston T Club, Vice President Professional Accounting Club, Vice President Senior Class, Vice President Lettermens Association, Deans List, Baseball Captain, Whos Who In American s & Universities, All favorite, Sam Houston Athletic Hall Of Honor and a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity. graduating Sam Houston State University, Dick played Canadian Semi-Pro Baseball. His long financial career began when Dick moved to Houston for a position with the accounting firm of Ernst and Young. He then began a distinguished 40-year career in the Houston area working for numerous banks in various executive management positions, including CEO and President. retirement Dick enjoyed his days golfing, gardening and volunteering for Fort Bend Meals On Wheels where he worked diligently taking care of his ladies as he referred to them. He was very much a people person and always had a smile on his face. He is survived by his beloved wife of thirty-three years Gail; his son, Scot Dyer and wife Verna Jean; son Michael Dyer and wife Hauna Mae; grandchildren Chase Ryan Dyer, Avery Harrison Dyer, Alex Ethan Dyer, Molly Claire Dyer, Isaac Michael Dyer and Shekinah Joy Dyer; brothers Donald Dyer and wife Edie, Roger Dyer and wife Brenda, and Bradley Dyer; sister-in-laws Donna Wirick Slayton and husband Jack, and Sheila Wirick Langham; beloved nieces Kimberly Kimmy Sue Slayton Bishop and husband Roy, Michelle Brown Eyed Toot Slayton, and Ali You Little Toot\ Langham Miller and husband Chris. He was loved by many for his kindness, loving nature and wonderful, unusual laugh and will be greatly missed. Obituary: Nova Jean Dyer (Mayabb), 83, went on to sit at the feet of Jesus, , 1, 2015 at Beacon Hill in Denison. The family visitation will be at Bratcher from 1:30 - 3:00 P.M., , 4, 2015. Please join the family and Nova Jean, as she liked to say attends her home church for the final time, as funeral services will be held at Parkside Baptist Church at 10:30 A.M., , 5 with Jerry Coffman and Sam Garrett officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview in Denison. Pallbearers will be Wayne Iafelice, Mike Davis, Lee Clayton, Stack Lambert, Cody Rodden and Joe Rodden. Nova Jean was born , 27, 1931 in Dallas, Texas, the daughter of Claude Mayabb and Cynthia Ann White Mayabb. She grew up in Calera, Oklahoma and married Allen H. Dyer in Dallas, Texas on 16, 1949. Nova Jean loved to recall and talk about the times that Allen was in the Air Force. Those twenty-two years were very dear to her, as she would share about the places they were stationed and the people that they meet there. Allen was devoted to his duty as he served our great country, while Jean likewise was devoted to her country, serving as she worked diligently to turn a trailer or base house (some even with bullet holes) into a home, making a home for her husband and children. were stationed in places such as Florida, Mississippi, New Mexico, Texas, Nevada, and Hawaii, having three children along the way, Ricky, Kenny and Carolyn.. In each place they would put down roots, making friendships that would last a life time. She and Allen would join the local Baptist church and serve the Lord wherever the U.S. Air Force planted them. Jean loved the Lord and it showed in her service. She would teach R.A.s, G.A.s, she worked in childrens choir and School, whatever was needed. Over the years she must have made a river of Kool-Aide and mountain of cookies for Vacation Bible School. In 1972, Allen retired from the Air Force and they moved to Denison to establish their home. joined Parkside Baptist Church, where they have been active members for over 40 years, continuing to serve the Lord. As the children grew older and left home, Nova Jean worked outside of the home at the Christian Book Store in Denison, ministering to all who came in contact with her, not just selling books, but spreading the Word of God through the lives that she touched. She loved people and it showed. Nova Jeans hobbies were spoiling her grandchildren and she was an avid reader. She is survived by husband Allen of Denison; son Kenneth Dyer of Oklahoma; daughter Carolyn Walton & husband Jeff of Denison; daughter-in-law Rachel Dyer of Denison; brothers Bill Huskey & wife Loretta of Atoka, Oklahoma, Jim Huskey & wife Phyllis of Calera, Oklahoma, John Huskey of Oklahoma; grandchildren Jeff Walton, Cynthia Walton, Patrick Dyer and Deanna Dyer. She is preceded in death by her parents, daughter-in-law Terra Dyer and son Richard Allen Dyer. |
