Obituary: Donald Dale Durst, 61, passed away 6, 2016 in Mabank, Texas. A memorial Service will be held , 19th, 2:00 p.m. at The Church of the Living God in McGregor, Texas, with the Reverend Sammie Haynes officiating. Don was born 2, 1955 to Wallace and Ruby (Henager) Durst, Jr. of Moody. graduating from Midway High School, he attended Tarleton State University. From there he transferred to Texas A & M, where he received his Bachelor of Science Degree. Don is a former resident of Gatesville, McGregor, Woodway, and Round Rock Texas. Don had a long career with SMI, in Waco, he spent several years as a top salesman at Dell Computers in Round Rock, and was recently employed as a substitute teacher with Kemp ISD. He was involved in Karaoke and performed in clubs, nursing homes, and weddings, and often ran sound for local and regional bands. Don loved boating on the lake and motorcycle riding. He is preceded in death by his parents, and his furry friend Karla Sue. Don is survived by aunts, uncles, a great aunt, cousins, and many many dear friends. |

Obituary: Peggy Lynn (Campbell) Durrwachter was born in Dallas on 18, 1948 and passed away peacefully on 22, 2017 in Frisco, Texas from complications from Frontotemporal Degeneration (FTD). Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, Earl Franklin Campbell and Helen (Gary) Campbell of Duncanville. She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Henry L. Durrwachter III, son Douglas Lane Durrwachter and his wife, Shelly of Keller, Texas and daughter Sheri Lynn (Durrwachter) Salvador and her husband Pat Salvador of McKinney, Texas as well as grandchildren Julie Ann (Durrwachter) Price and her husband Andrew Price of Irving, Texas, grandsons Joshua Tanner Durrwachter, Alex Ryan Salvador and Reid Campbell Salvador. She is also survived by her sister Diane West and her husband Jerry West of Waxahachie, Texas and her sister, Kathy Campbell of Dallas and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews. Peggy was a graduate of Duncanville High School in Duncanville, Texas. She attended Dallas Baptist University for two years majoring in music and education. She then went to work full-time at a bank to help put her husband Henry through college. She continued to work in the banking industry until the children were born. Peggy loved her family and was devoted to her husband and children. She served as Girl Scout leader, room mother, soccer mom and chauffer for the childrens sports. Once the children were in school, she began volunteering at their school as a library aide. This turned into a ten-year career as an office aide at a local elementary school. the children graduated from college, Peggy retired to help take care of the grandchildren. Peggy loved church music, horseback riding, traveling to Americas national parks and her extended family. She attended countless baseball, soccer and basketball games, cheering for her kids and grandkids for over 40 years. She accepted Christ as her personal savior at the age of 9 at the First Baptist Church of Duncanville. She was a life-long Baptist and was a member at First McKinney Baptist Church at the time of her passing. She taught pre-school and kindergarten School classes for over 30 years at the various churches where she was a member. She loved working with young children and teaching them about the Bible. The family would like to thank the Executive Director, Mary Poole, and the entire staff at the Cottages of Chapel Creek for their tender, loving care of Peggy during her stay at their facility and to the wonderful caregivers at Total Hospice & Palliative (THPC). A funeral service for Peggy will be held on , 27 at the Crosspoint Church, 2101 S. Stonebridge Drive, McKinney, Texas. Obituary: William R. Bob Durrett grew up in a family dedicated to education. His late father worked for the Dallas Independent School District for 47 years and was the first principal at Kimball High School. Then, Mr. Durrett worked for the district for 32 years and rose through the ranks to serve as principal at three elementary schools. He had a special relationship with his father and he wanted to be just like him, said Mr. Durretts daughter, Carrie Durrett of Dallas. It was important for him to follow in his fathers footsteps. Mr. Durrett, 73, died of complications from pneumonia. Services will be at 2 p.m. at White Rock United Methodist Church, 1450 Old Gate Lane in Dallas. A reception will follow in the church parlor. Born in Oak Cliff, Mr. Durrett attended Winnetka Elementary while his father, William P. Bill Durrett, was the school principal. In his fathers obituary, he was quoted as saying, He knew I was in trouble before I did. graduation from Adamson High School, Mr. Durrett attended North Texas State University, now the University of North Texas, where he earned a bachelors degree and two masters degrees. He received a doctorate from Nova University. In 1962, his teaching career started in the Richardson Independent School District at Lake Highlands Junior High, where he taught social studies. He left teaching for a few years to work at Collins Radio before returning to education. His tenure with the DISD started in 1971. He taught at Gaston and Franklin middle schools before becoming assistant principal at Franklin. serving as assistant principal at Brown and Stockard Middle schools, Mr. Durrett became principal at Donald Elementary. He also served as principal at Lagow and Macon elementary schools. His daughter said he retired from Macon Elementary in 2003 to take care of his wife, the late Sherry P. Durrett. She had worked for the Dallas school district as a high school librarian. Along with his commitment to education, Mr. Durrett was active in his community. A lieutenant colonel in the Army Reserves, he was involved in Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts, Indian Guides and Princesses, his church and Rotary. Fellow Rotary member Warren Rutherford of Dallas met Mr. Durrett and his father in 1985. were an institution here, especially his father, Rutherford said. Everyone admired them. Dallas school district colleague and former principal Jack London described Mr. Durrett as a real professional educator and very organized. He was a speaker at elementary and education conventions and the first to volunteer in the districts year-round school. Their friendship, which spans about 50 years, included meeting for breakfast to talk about everything, London said. Along with his daughter, Mr. Durrett is survived by son Dan Durrett of Austin; sister Barbara Stidham of Sonoma, Calif.; several nieces, a nephew, great-nephews and great-nieces; and several in-laws.
