Obituary: History and good memories of Aubry Hugh Duckworth Aubrey Hugh Duckworth was born on 23, 1938, in Dalhart, Texas. He is survived by his immediate family, a sister, Clara (Duckworth) Barrington and a nephew, Steven Lynn Barrington. He also has many cousins and friends who also loved him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin Newton Duckworth and Myrtle Clara Kelly Duckworth. We were always a close family and have many close memories spend with friends, aunts, uncles and cousins. Aubrey always enjoyed sharing stories of the times we spent with relatives, including Judy and Joe Richardson and families, Theresa and Reggie Graves and families, Tommy and Jan Kelly and family. The aunts and uncles now deceased were also a big part of his life. Our best friends, Gail and Eddie Angel and family, Onette Tuch and family and Maurine Loth and family also shared some fun times with us all. Before his stroke in 2009, Aubry enjoyed having BBQs, fishing and taking vacations with his family and spending time with his nephew, Steven Lynn Barrington. Aubry was like a father to Steve and helped Clara when Steve was growing up. He took him many places and Steve has always appreciated and loved Aubry for helping him and doing things with him. Aubrey has lived in Dalhart, Lubbock, Slaton, Azle, Weatherford and Austin, Texas. He also lived a short time in Colorado Springs, Colorado when he was younger. Aubrey finished High School in Lubbock and also went to Texas Tech while working for Continental Airlines. He has always had a love for airplanes. He completed Junior at Weatherford. moving back to Lubbock, he worked for the State of Texas as an auditor, then came to Austin as a programmer, then retired from the U.S. Department of Commerce here in Austin. He and Clara also attended ACC together for a class. He and Steve took electronics class together at ACC. He managed Winchells Doughnut Shop for one and a half years while temporarily out of work. The whole family worked together to make ends meet and we all enjoyed our trips together, as Aubry was usually the one who would get everything organized. When asked how we could all get along so well together, we said, with lots of love and understanding. Family meant everything to him and he always put the family first as well as my parents did. Clara and Steve have been Aubrys caregivers since his stroke in 2009, and we felt like no one could deserve the special care more than Aubry. Although Aubry didn belong to any church, he was raised in the Methodist church in Dalhart and was baptized. He lived a Christian life and was a kind, thoughtful and generous man. There are many good things to be said for Aubry, but not enough time. His friends and relatives may want to share some stories. A gathering of friends and family will take place from 10:00 a.m. unit 12:00 p.m. , 4, 2014, at Weed-Corley-Fish located at 2620 S. Congress. A graveside service will follow at 1:00 p.m. at Capital Memorial Park in Pflugerville, Texas. |
