Obituary: In Memory of Rosalie Aloi Duca 31, 1923 to May 16, 2017 Duca, Rosalie Aloi, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family praying the rosary. We are so blessed to have shared in the life of Rosalie, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Rosalie was born on 31, 1923 in Dallas, Texas to Frank and Lula LaRocca Aloi. She lived her whole life in Dallas where, after being double promoted twice in grade school, she attended North Dallas High School. Rosalie married the love of her life, Francis Salvador (Sal) Duca, at Sacred Heart Cathedral in of 1945 following the end of World War II. She raised three children and above all else taught her children the importance of faith, family and love. Rosalie loved her Catholic/Italian culture. She served pasta and meatballs every after Mass at the family home and all were welcome. Rosalie and Sal loved dancing and were known for their "swing" on the dance floor. She cherished her lifelong friendships in the Italian community and it is said that she ever met a stranger. When meeting someone new, Rosalie would always ask someone their name, their mothers name and their grandmothers name and then she would proceed to tell her new friend all about their own family. Because of the constant kindness and love she offered to others, many in Dallas considered themselves adopted into Rosalies family. Rosalie had an incredible memory, remembering stories and details from years ago and never forgetting a birthday or anniversary. Before the age of technology, those around her knew they could call her for any address or phone number and she could recall it for them straight from memory. Rosalie was a charter member of the "HG Club, a club of Italian mothers that shared lifelong friendships, faith and support together. She sincerely cherished each of these friendships. Rosalie was a member of Catholic Daughters of America for over 40 years (Court Mary Immaculate # 1719) and often boasted that she had recruited over 100 new members. She valued the mission of Catholic Daughters and was very active in the court. Rosalie and Sal were charter members of St. Bernard of Clairvaux Catholic Church where she was a member of the St. Bernard Altar Society and St. Joseph circle. She even sang for a short while in the St. Bernard Choir under the direction of Father Marsh. Sal passed away in 1998, Rosalie moved to Dallass Lakewood neighborhood and began attending St. Thomas of Aquinas Catholic Church where she was a member of the Altar Society and a faithful member of "The Lords Circle of Love" prayer group led by the faithful dedication of Lucy Rose Campise. Rosalie understood the need to help others and give back to the less fortunate and contributed countless volunteer hours to "Our Ladies of Charity" and also enjoyed making rosaries for the missionaries. Rosalie was very important in the lives of her immediate family. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren cherished their relationships with her. She was involved in their daily lives and kept in touch with those out of town via email, Facebook and facetime. She was famous for her Nana Smile and whenever she would see her family, she would ask What day is it? Her family knew the answer-its a HAPPY DAY! She would prepare rhymes for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren for their birthdays, holidays, weddings, graduations or just because. Her best wedding advice was dance together and pray together and you will always stay together and she baked Jesus a birthday cake every Christmas. She prayed for every member of her family every night. She was very devoted to "Our Lady of Fatima" and recited the rosary twice a day for the intention of world peace. When any member of her family was travelling by air, she would light what was known as her airplane candle and pray for them until they returned from their travels safely. Rosalie became so famous for her airplane candles that friends and extended family would call her before their travels and ask her to light a candle for them. No matter what else was going on in her life, she would ask the times and dates of travel and would light the candle and pray for their safe passage. Even as her life was ending , Rosalie was still giving to those that came to visit her. She would tell each person a story about her life, remind them of the memories they shared, or give them a piece of advice. She told each person how much she loved them and how important they were to her. She lived her life as she died with unwavering faith, grace and love of family. Rosalie was preceded in death by her husband, Francis Salvador Duca, parents, Frank and Lula Aloi, and brother, Vincent Aloi. Rosalie is survived by her three children, Mary Rose Colgin (Larry), Joseph Duca (Rena), and Theresa Marie Dillard (Michael) . She is also survived by her 10 grandchildren, that she loved with all of her being: Michelle Peacock (Matt), Lisa Colgin, Lauren Agapios (Evagelos), Brian Peterson, Aaron Duca (Jenny), Chelsea May (Adam), John Colgin (Virginia), Matthew Colgin (Andrea), Meredith Colgin, and Christopher Dillard (Kristen). She is also survived by her 16 great-grandchildren, who were the absolute loves of her life: Tristan, Gabriella, Kaitlin, Isabelle, Samatha, Zachary, Olivia, Austin, Sabrina, Sophia, Lillian, Marina, Ava, Matthew, and babies Jackson and Emma. Rosalie was survived by many nieces, nephews , great nieces and great nephews whom she loved very much and were very much a part of her life. The family wants to thank the Aloi, DiCarlo and Duca families for loving "Aunt Rosalie" . All services will be held on , May 22, 2017 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 6306 Kenwood Avenue, Dallas. The family will greet friends at 9:30 a.m. The recitation of the Rosary will begin at continued... |

Obituary: DUCA, Aline Degelia 1, 1926 - 27, 2015 "Well done, good and faithful servant...Enter into the joy of your master." Matt. 25:23 How blessed we are to have shared in the life of Aline Duca, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Aline was born on 1, 1926 in Dallas, Texas to Jim and Irene Genaro Degelia. She spent her whole life in Dallas where she attended Sacred Heart Grade School and St. Joseph High School. her mother died in 1944 she worked with her dad in his grocery store. She married the love of her life, Lewis, in 1949. Her family was the center of her life. She raised 4 children and taught them so many things, with the most important being the love of God. Aline's Catholic faith was the center and foundation of her life. Going to Mass and receiving Communion was an opportunity for her, not an obligation. She taught her children right from wrong and to always turn to God for the answers. Aline was a charter member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church and was actively involved in the Altar Society until her health began to fail. As a young woman, Aline joined in with other lifelong friends and became a member of the MQN Club. While her children never knew the real meaning of "MQN" they know that the time and love she shared with these wonderful women brought her much happiness and many memories. Aline loved to cook. Her cooking and baking were an art. She always had something to offer if you stopped by and could create a delicious meal almost out of nothing! Along with her cooking, she was a seamstress and did beautiful handwork. Aline was compassionate, always aware of those who were in need and helped in any way she could. Aline prayed each and every day. If she said she would pray for you, she did. And once you were on her prayer list, you didn't get off. Aline helped start the Trinitarian Auxiliary for Holy Trinity Seminary in Irving, Texas. She was a prayerful supporter of seminarians and religious life. Aline's life truly was a life of service - to her family and to others. Even as her life was ending, she showed care and concern for the caregivers who cared for her, making sure they were taking care of themselves. We thank those who cared for her with dignity and showed true compassion. Aline's life will continue through all those who were touched by her care and love. Aline is preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Duca, parents Jim and Irene Genaro Degelia, and brother Joe Degelia. Aline is survived by her four children, son Most Rev. Michael G. Duca, Bishop of Shreveport, daughter Rosanne Duca Dworaczyk (Bill), son James G. Duca (Cindy), and daughter Irene Duca Casburn (Mark). She is also survived by the loves of her life, her grandchildren, to whom she gave unconditional love: Andrew, David, Laura, Rebecca, Matthew (Catherine), Rachel (Sam), Hannah, Annie and Sarah. Affectionately known as Granny A, she is also survived by great-granddaughter Lucia and her future sister. Aline is also survived by many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. The family wishes to thank Marie Tate who was faithful in bringing Holy Communion to Aline and to Joan Tate, who always made her day brighter and made her feel good by making her look good! Thank you to Tim, Aline's nurse from Priority , who not only took care of her medical needs but became a friend with whom she could share her stories and faith. We are also grateful to watch givers and Amity Hospice who were with Aline the last week of her life. Your care and concern are greatly appreciated. All services will be on , 1, 2015 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 6306 Kenwood Avenue, Dallas.
