Obituary: Orvil Alton ÂBud Downum, 81, beloved father and grandfather, died , 21, 2005 in Austin, Texas following a lengthy illness. Born 4, 1923 in San Antonio, Texas to Winnie Orlevia Hart and Orvil Ambrose Downum, the owner of OrvilÂs on South Presa, Bud grew up in San Antonio. Following his graduation from Brackenridge High School in 1944, he joined the United States Air Force serving as a corporal in World War II. His tour of duty took him to the Philippines at Leyte where he worked in the then cutting edge technology of data processing. Upon his return, he worked for State Roofers and opened offices for them in Austin and Houston. Bud and his family moved to Houston in 1958, where he eventually opened his own company A. Downum Roofing, which served the Houston area for over thirty years. He was an active member of the Houston BuilderÂs Association and received recognition as Remodeler of the Year. Following his retirement from business, he permanently moved to his beloved Âplace outside of Flatonia, Texas, where he lived until illness prevented him from doing so. A man of faith, Bud considered himself a Christian. BudÂs loving personality and gentle humor will be deeply missed by his family and friends. Bud is survived by his two daughters, Priscilla Ann Watkins of Houston, Texas and Sharon Lyn Fink and her husband, Brian Woodson Fink of Austin, Texas. His sister, Mary Evelyn Downum, resides in Floresville, Texas. He also leaves behind one grandson, Christopher Michael Watkins of Houston, Texas. The family wishes to thank the staff at Monte Siesta and Odyssey Hospice in Austin, Texas for their loving care and devotion to Bud during his final illness. Obituary: Josephine Lucille Downum, 79, born 18, 1921 in Hochheim, Texas, passed away peacefully on , 17, 2001 in her home with loved ones by her side. She spent most of her childhood in Hondo. Attending BIOLA University for 2 years in Los Angeles, California, she then moved to San Antonio where she married Rev. Leroy Downum in 1949. She offered quiet, loving support to him in many Christian ministry opportunities, including pastorates, interim supply work, and his chaplaincy at the State Chest Hospital in San Antonio. Leroy preceded her in death on 10, 1992. She is survived by her son, Dan Downum and wife, Phyllis, Folsom, CA; daughters, Ruth Triebel and husband, Jeff, Houston, TX, and JoBeth Downum, Burleson, TX; sister, Nita Gring, San Antonio; and brother, Arthur Dawson, Refugio, TX. Obituary: SAGINAW -- Zachary V. Downs, 29, of Saginaw passed away evening, Feb. 18, 2016, in a fatal motorcycle accident on his way home from work. : Noon , Feb. 27, in Laurel Land Memorial Chapel. Interment: Laurel Land Memorial Park in Fort Worth. Viewing: Family viewing will be held 6 to 8 p.m. , Feb. 25, and public viewing and visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. at Laurel Land. There will be food served at his aunt Betty's house; information will be given out at the viewing. We will also be meeting at Blue 32 in Saginaw after services and late lunch will be served in remembrance of Zach, as this was his home away from home.
