Obituary: On , 7, 1941, Thomas and Anna Bertha Dorsey gave birth to their fifth born child. This child was a fun loving, spunky, dancing machine that grew to have a contagious personality that blessed many lives. His many nick-names show how he loved life and the people in his life. During His time, He was known as Shorty the Barber, Stump, Jukebox, C, Wee baby, Daddy, Unk, Dada, Dear and Elder. His given name is Waymon Louis Dorsey. Born and raised in Memphis, Tennessee. He graduated from Barrets Chapel High School and attended Tennessee State, in Nashville. Soon after, He joined the United States Air Force. While in the Air Force, He met and married the love of his life, Shirley M. Dorsey. This forty-eight year union gave birth to two daughters, Sonja Michelle, the eldest, who he often called Shello or Big Un and Candace Dawn who he affectionately called Lil Girl. Waymon served in the Air Force for over twenty-one years. retirement, He served as a Letter carrier for the United States Postal Service for twenty years. Waymon accepted Christ at Oak Grove Missionary Baptist under the Pastorate of J. B. Hooker in Memphis, Tennessee. He was a member of Bible Way Fellowship in Houston, Texas, Pastored by Reverend, Dr. Ivory L. Varner. As an active member, Waymon participated in many ministries. He served as a Deacon and later served as an Elder. Being from Memphis, Waymon had a great passion for music. Through the years, many of us were the recipients of Rhythm & Blues, Jazz, and Gospel tapes and CDs. He was also known as a Mr. Fix it. If you needed him to, he could hang it, repair it, or build it. He is preceded in death by his Parents, Thomas and Anna Bertha Dorsey, his grandparents William and Willie B. Dorsey, two sisters, Sarah B. Jones and Barbra A. Dorsey, two brothers Thomas Dorsey, Jr. and Charles A. Dorsey. He is survived by his beautiful wife Shirley and two daughters, Michelle and Candace, his son-in-law John Green and two grandchildren, Tyler (9) and Ryann (2). He also leaves behind two sisters and six brothers: Mattie F. Chism, Mary E. (Richard) Butler, Richard M. (Billye), Jesse E., Henry Michael (Annette), Larry M., James R. (Sherry), and Clarence E. Dorsey. He will be equally missed by his many in-laws, nieces and nephews. He was called home on , 28, 2015. Daddy we want you to know, you loved us in the way we needed to be loved. You always recognized who we were. We love you!! You were every good example we wanted and needed. Rest in peace knowing that you were the best daddy any two girls could have. You are and will be missed! Until we see you again.Rest easy man!
