Obituary: DOEBBLER Jennie Vee Carolyn Armstrong Doebbler, age 84, died , 29, 2014. She was born in San Antonio, Texas on 3, 1930. Jennie lived at Hickham Field when the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor on 7, 1941. Although having experienced that traumatic event, Hawaii has always held a special place in her heart and was her favorite place to visit. Fortunately, she was able to vacation there in of 2013 with her family. She graduated from Brackenridge High School in 1947. She worked as a bookkeeper at Esco Supply for many years and later worked in the family business at Southwestern Engraving until she retired in 1995. Jennie was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Jack Irving Doebbler, Sr. as well as her parents Edna Nicolas Hoag and Julius Lewis Armstrong. She is survived by her son, John Doebbler, Sr. and wife, Karen of San Antonio, Texas; son, Jack Doebbler, Jr. and wife, Cheryl of Leander, Texas; grandchildren, John Doebbler, Jr. and Dianna Doebbler of San Antonio; Jennifer Strauss and husband, Emanuel of San Mateo, California and Jacklyn Meers and husband, Kyle of Austin, Texas and great-grandchild, Laureline Strauss of San Mateo, California; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Obituary: Jack I. Doebbler, Sr., age 79, died , 3, 2010. He was born in San Antonio, Texas on 26, 1930. He graduated from Brackenridge High School in 1948. During high school, he worked for Benton T. Waldon with Southwestern Engraving and purchased the company in 1979. Jack was well liked by his business acquaintances in the printing and engraving industry. He retired after working in the business for over 50 years. Jack served honorably in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict and served proudly on the USS Doyle and the aircraft carrier USS Boxer. One of the things he enjoyed most was attending his ships reunions and reminiscing with his shipmates. He was also a gifted artist and created many oil paintings for his family to enjoy. Jack is preceded in death by his parents, Howard A. and Irma Doebbler, Sr., as well as two beloved brothers, Howard A. Doebbler, Jr. and William Doebbler. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Jennie Doebbler; son, John Doebbler, Sr. and wife, Karen of San Antonio; son, Jack Doebbler, Jr. and wife, Cheryl of Leander, Texas; grandchildren, John Doebbler, Jr., and Dianna Doebbler of San Antonio; Jennifer Strauss of Switzerland and Jacklyn Meers of Austin, Texas. His grandchildren all knew him fondly as Grandpa Bird. Jack is also survived by his sister, Derelys Sweet of San Antonio; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
