Obituary: Services for Joe E. Ditsworth, 59, of Lufkin, will be held at 2:00 p.m. , 13, 2015 in the Gipson Chapel, with Bro. Tim Brewer officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park. Joe was born 2, 1955 at the Norfolk Virginia Naval Base, the son of the late Patsy (Hughes) and Edgar William Ditsworth, Sr. He passed away , 9, 2015 in a local hospice facility. Joe was a geologist. He graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University in 1981 with a Bachelor of Science Degree. He loved the outdoors and science - anything to do with the earth. He enjoyed hiking, fishing, hunting, and fossil hunting. He also enjoyed watching his great-nephews baseball games - he never missed a game. He was a member of Herty Baptist Church. Survivors include his brothers, Edgar William Ditsworth, Jr. and wife Linda of Garner, Kansas and David D. Ditsworth and wife Debbie of Lufkin; nephews, Michael Ditsworth, Adam Ditsworth, Andrew Ditsworth, Gunner Ditsworth, Dave Ditsworth, Lacey Watt, and Vance Ditsworth; and 7 great-nephews and great-nieces. In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his nephew, Timothy D. Ditsworth; and longtime close friend, Joseph Barrios. Pallbearers will be Hubert Vaughn OBannon, Tommy McMahon, Randy Brewer, Andy J. Modisette, III, Coy Ditsworth, and John Brown. Honorary pallbearers will be Floyd A. Guy Ellis, Jr., Ben Norrod, Randy Russell and Ron McFarland. Memorial contributions in Joes memory may be made to Hospice in the Pines, 1504 W. Frank Avenue, Lufkin, TX 75904.
