Obituary: Clifton F. Dews, born in Garner, Texas on 14, 1928 to Clifton and Mildred Dews. He passed away on 31, 2014. Services will be held , 3rd at 10:00 a.m. at St. Luke United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. Clifton graduated Mineral Wells High School, Mineral Wells, Texas. He attended San Angelo 1947-1949 and played football for the Rams. He graduated Sul Ross State University in 1953, BBA Degree in Accounting and graduated Angelo State University in 1976, MBA degree in Accounting. Clifton established his own accounting and tax preparation business in 1975 and was licensed to practice before the Internal Revenue Service in 1980. He was a member of the Texas and National Association of Enrolled Agents, Accredited Tax Advisor, Accreditation Council for Accountancy and Taxation, Inc. 26, 1950, Clifton married Jean Copeland from Marfa, Texas. He was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church since 1957 and served on the Finance Commission, Administrative Board and various other commissions and committees. Clifton was a member of the Committee that organized the Concho Valley for Girls. He served on the fundraising committee and was elected the first President of the Board, serving two terms as President and remained on the board for several years. He was also a member of the Board of Childrens Emergency Shelter for several years. Clifton was preceded in death by his parents and his wife. He is survived by one brother, Marion Dews and wife Jo of Arlington; daughter Kathy Hall and husband Allen of Houston, daughter Debby Smith and husband Ricky of Grape Creek, son Randy Dews and wife Debbie of Dallas; grandchildren Erin Smith and husband Scott, Casey Croley and husband Anthony, Megan Hall, Clint Smith, Sarah Field and husband Lonnie, Kendall Dews, Spencer Pelzel and wife Elizabeth; great-grandchildren Dylan, Shane and Stella Smith, Tucker Field, and one great-grandson, Baby Croley, on the way. Also survived by sisters-in-law Beverly Copeland of Midland and Wicker of Fredericksburg, Texas. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the charity of your choice. Some of Cliftons favorites were Concho Valley for Girls, West Texas Boys Ranch, and American Cancer Society. |

Obituary: Jimmie Robert DeWoody, 100 years of age passed away , 17, 2015, at Medical Hospital. He was born 11, 1915, in Huntington, TX, to James Andrew and Georgia DeWoody. He retired from Shell Oil Co. after 34 years of service as a driller and lease operator. Jimmie was a WWII hero. He was a Staff Sergeant in the 9th Armored Division, 52nd Armored Infantry Battalion Medical Detachment. He was a combat medic during the Battle of the Bulge. He was a prisoner of war in a German POW camp for 9 months. He received the American Defense Service Medal, European-African Middle Easter Campaign Medal, 3 Bronze Service Stars, Purple Heart, American Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal and World War II Victory Medal. The 9th AID received two presidential citations for Bastogne and Remagen. He is also enrolled in the WWII Registry of Remembrances at the National WWII Memorial in Washington, DC. He originally enlisted in the Army in 1936, and was stationed at Fort Ringold in the Rio Grande Valley and was in the Calvary. He was honorably discharged and re-enlisted after Pearl Harbor. He also served in the Coast Guard Reserve. He was a member of the American POW Organization, 50-year member and past Master of Masonic Lodge 1421 (Andy G. Vaughn). He was also a member of Sherwood Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Mary Curry DeWoody, brothers, Hugh, Andrew James, and Bobby DeWoody, and sisters, Mollie Wilson and Ora Nell Jones. He is survived by his son, Robert DeWoody and wife, Susan of Odessa, daughter, Deborah Curry and husband, Max Sanders of Fort Worth, TX; sisters, Marie Horton and husband, Ted of Lufkin, TX; and Pauline Capps of Huntington, TX; grandson J. Andrew DeWoody and wife, Yssa of Midland, TX; granddaughter Elizabeth Godfrey-Weidig and husband Doug of Kyle, TX; great-granddaughters Taylor, Audrey, and Marie DeWoody of Midland; and Rachel and Katie Godfrey of Kyle, TX; two granddaughters Michalea Daggett and Lara Bow, and three step-great-granddaughters, and one step-great-grandson; six nieces, five nephews, and their families. Mr. DeWoody will lie in state from 1:00 to 9:00 pm on , 19, 2015, at Hubbard-Kelly in Odessa. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm on , 20, 2015, at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Rev. Ivy Shelton officiating. Services entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly of Odessa. |

Obituary: Earl Lee DeWoody died peacefully, after a long illness on 8, 2013. He was born 6, 1930 to James Edward DeWoody and Lola Pearl Tarpley DeWoody in Martha, Oklahoma. He was next to the youngest of eleven children. He married Barbara Ruth Smart 15, 1949 and lived and worked side by side for 63 wonderful years. He enjoyed working and especially at his family owned air conditioning and heating business for 30 years. He was well respected in the new home construction community. He enjoyed doing and teaching ceramics and wood crafting. He and Bobby traveled all over the United States with friends in their motor homes and was Wagon Master of the Plano Good SAMs for several years. He enjoyed being surrounded by his family and friends. Earl is survived by wife, Bobby, and son and daughter-in-law Steve and Edie; his granddaughter Jennifer and husband Ryan Tutt; granddaughter Emily and husband Victor Castro; great-granddaughters Kennedy and Landry Tutt and great-grandson Coy Tutt; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was adored and loved by all that knew him. A funeral service will be held on , 13, 2013 at 1:00 PM at the Ted Dickey , located at 2128 18th Street, Plano, TX 75074. Burial will follow services at Plano Mutual . A visitation will be held on evening, 12, 2013 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home. |
