Obituary: Fred Thomas (Tom) DeMoss left this life on 9, 2015, and went with great joy and eagerness to claim the place prepared for him and promised by his Savior. Tom was born in Houston on , 4th, Presidential Election Day, in the year 1924. He attended Poe Elementary School, Lanier Junior High School, and graduated from Lamar High School in 1941. He entered Rice University as a member of the first Naval ROTC class in the fall of that year. accelerated classes and active duty at school, he was commissioned as Ensign of USNR in of 1944 at the end of his junior academic year. He served at various training bases and then Executive Officer and later Commanding Officer of USSW LCI (L) 703 in the South Pacific and Philippine Islands during World War II. the war, he returned to Rice and graduated with the degree of Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering in of 1947. He was immediately employed by Gulf Oil Corporation as a sales engineer. In 1949 he took leave of absence and earned an MBA from Harvard Graduate School of Business in 1951. Toms diverse business career covered 40 years in sales, marketing management, marketing research, strategic planning, and consulting in the petroleum and petrochemical industries. In addition to his 28 years with Gulf, he took a position with Jefferson Chemical in 1964 as Senior Marketing Research Analyst. Two years later he was hired back by Gulf to the same position with Gulf Oil Chemicals Co. some 12 more years with Gulf, he took early retirement in 1978. That same year he was recruited by Pace Consulting and Engineering as a Project Manager. However, in 1983, the consulting business cratered along with the general economy and Tom was etired early again. With a beloved wife, three children, a house and two cars to pay for, he dug out a solution and took an offer to work overseas with the General Petroleum and Minerals Organization (Petromin) in Saudi Arabia. While this was a large and difficult strain on the whole family, including Toms wife Gail, it was later called heir finest hour. Tom stuck it out for 4 years and retired again. Over these years, he retired three times, but finally came home to Houston to stay in 1987. He then began a long term association with Northwest Assistance Ministries as a volunteer, staff member, bus driver, money counter, and interest supporter of this multi-church cooperative charity organization in Northwest Harris . He did the best he could with what he had and God forgave him anyway. Tom was married to his loyal and caring wife of over 50 years, Gail Woltman DeMoss of Houston who passed on 2, 2012. Survivors are: A son, Thomas DeMoss Wood, preceded him in death, and wife Rachel and grandsons, Andrew and David of Berkeley, California; A daughter, Lisa Gail Bassett, of Houston; A son, Matthew Steven DeMoss and wife Krys, four grandchildren, Ben, Heather, Harrison and Clara, all of Dallas, Texas; A son, Mark Thomas DeMoss and wife Jill, and two grandchildren, Riley and Kaiya of Albuquerque, New Mexico; A brother, Judge Harold R. DeMoss, Jr. and wife Judy of Houston; A sister, Dr. Dorothy D. DeMoss of Denton, preceded him in death. His parents were Harold R. DeMoss, Sr. and Jessy May DeMoss, both now deceased, who lived in Houston before moving to Dallas in 1943. A memorial funeral service will be held at the American Heritage on , 17, 2015 located at 10710 Veterans Memorial Drive. This location adjoins the Houston Veterans National on the north side. The service will begin at 9:30am and immediately following the service a military burial procession and internment will be held at the cemetery. The family requests that in lieu of floral tributes, donations be sent to Northwest Assistance Ministries, Kuykendahl Road, Houston. |

Obituary: Dale E. DeMoss, age 66, passed away on May 24, 2015 in Port Aransas, Texas. He was born on 25, 1949 to Mildred and Cecil DeMoss in Houston, Texas. Dale graduated from UT Austin and co-owned with his wife MMC-The Photography Co. in Lake Ozark, Mo. Dale will be remembered for his love of laughter and devotion to his family and for his involvement in the Little League with his one and only favorite grandson, Bradley Orcutt, whom was his greatest joy in this last chapter of life. Dale is preceded in death by his parents and his brother. He leaves behind his loving wife of 31 years Marsha DeMoss, daughter Lindsey DeMoss, son Daniel DeMoss , daughter-in-law Alicia Bluejacket, siblings Cheryl and Ron Hole of McAllen, Texas and Port Aransas, Texas, grandson Bradley Orcutt of the home and numerous nieces and nephews. Also surviving Dale is his furry sidekick Sailor. A Celebration of Life will be held beach front of the DeMoss home concluding with the scattering of his ashes. |

Obituary: John Thomas DeMoney, beloved father and grandfather, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on , the 27th of 2010. John, known as J.T., was born in 1922 in Greenville, Mississippi. His father passed away when he was three and he and his mother moved to Marshall, Texas. John served in the navy during World War II. He piloted a Higgins landing craft to Omaha Beach in Normandy as a part of the D-Day invasion. Over several days he made 34 such landings of troops and supplies. the invasion of France, he was assigned to a navy transport that toured the Mediterranean and eventually the Pacific. At the end of the war, from his transport ship anchored in Tokyo harbor, he had a view of the USS Missouri during the Japanese surrender. He went to East Texas Baptist on the G.I. Bill in Business management. He was employed at East Texas Baptist University in Marshall as Business Manager from 1964 to 1971, and then opened and managed the local Ramada Inn. In Marshall his hobby was taking care of his horses on his farm. In 1979, he moved to Austin where he was office manager at KPMG Accounting Firm. John married Genevieve Long in 1947 and they were happily together for 63 years until her death in of this year. A lover of music, he had a beautiful tenor voice and played guitar and piano. His favorite television program was The Lawrence Welk Show, which he watched faithfully every night. John was also an active member of Hyde Park Baptist Church, where he loved serving and being with his close friends in the Mens Class. John was a real friend to everyone he met. He was a kind and gentle man, and had a passion for encouraging young people. His wisdom, courage, and sense of humor showed through even in the last two and a half years as his health was declining. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, DAnn and Elliott Beck, and two grandchildren, Brandon and Susan Beck. Also surviving is Bobby DeMoney of Marshall. The family wishes to thank the staffs at Austin North Assisted Living and Anderson Mill Assisted Living, who have cared for him for the last two years with excellence and hard work. Also, a special thank you to Heart to Heart Hospice, The Plaza at Querencia, and The Summit at Westlake Hills. The casket will lie in repose from noon to nine oclock in the evening on , the 30th of 2010, at Cook-Walden , 6100 North Lamar Boulevard, Austin. Graveside services will be conducted at half past ten oclock in the morning on , the 1st of 2010, in the Cook-Walden Memorial Hill . All friends and family are welcome.
