Obituary: Glenna Bradshaw Delker passed away on May 22, 2004 in the at Air Force Village II, San Antonio, Texas. She was born 17, 1920 in Harper Kansas, the daughter of Clarence Bradshaw and Cora Baird Bradshaw. Her father was a traveling salesman, thus she attended elementary school in Wichita, Kansas, high school in Dodge City, Kansas during the terrible dust storm of the 1930Âs, and college at Kansas Wesleyan in Salina, Kansas where she graduated in 1941 with majors in Art and English Literature and met her future husband, Warren Delker. While waiting for him to complete his Army Air Corps Flying Cadet training, she worked as a news reporter on radio station KSAL in Salina, Kansas. On 3, 1942, she married 2nd Lt. Warren Delker in Reno, Nevada. During her career as a military wife, she was president of Wives Clubs at Muroc Army Air Field, California, Larson Air Force Base, Washington and Westover AFB, Massachusetts. She also functioned as the reporter of Wives Club activities for the Douglas, Arizona paper and the Honolulu Star Bulletin, Hawaii. She entered real estate in 1960 as a salesman and retired as a broker in 1980 due to health problems. She was a member of the Lyona Methodist Church, Kansas. She was preceded in death by her son, Douglas Leon Delker; and brother, Justin Bradshaw. She is survived by her husband, of 62 years, Lt. Colonel Warren H. Delker, USAF Ret, of Air Force Village II; and by her son, Lt. Colonel. Warren B. Delker, USAF Ret, of Edmond, Oklahoma. She is also survived by three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. Obituary: Lt. Col. Warren H. Delker passed away , 30, 2005 at the Methodist Specialty and Transplant Hospital, San Antonio, TX. He was born to Frank and Nellie Delker of Chapman, Kansas on 3, 1915. A graduate of Dickenson High School, Col. Delker attended Kansas Wesleyan University for three years before attending Army Air Force Pilot Training in Ontario, CA. being commissioned as an officer and receiving his wings, Col. Delker married his college sweetheart, Glenna. were married for 62 wonderful years. Col. Delker initially served as an instructor pilot before being selected as a B-29 Aircraft Commander. In 1944, Col. Delker completed his B-29 training at Herrington, KS and was assigned to the 497th Bomb Group on Saipan in the Marianna Islands. Col. Delker flew as Lead Aircraft Commander on numerous bombing missions to Japan including the famous low-level Tokyo Fire Raids of 9-13, 1945. For his valor, Col. Delker was awarded three Distinguished Flying Crosses. At the conclusion of WWII, Col. Delker remained in the Air Force. He again served his country as an aircraft commander during the Berlin Airlift and flew C-124Âs all over the world with the Military Air Transport Service, MATS. Col. Delker retired from active duty after 24 years of service and worked with Civil Service for many years. Upon retirement, the Delkers moved to Air Force Village II in San Antonio where they spent their final years. Col. Delker was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Glenna. are survived by their son, Lt. Col. Brad Delker of Edmond, OK. |

Obituary: John Seaburn Delk, Sr, 84, of Lufkin, son of Noma (Abernathy) and Seaburn Seymore Delk, was born 26, 1926 in Neches, Texas and passed away 5, 2010 in Lufkin. John served with the United States Marine Corps during World War II where he served in the Raider Battalion and 3rd Marine Division. He fought in the battles at Guadalcanal and Iwo Jima and later served in the occupation of Japan and Hiroshima. He was honorably discharged on 25, 1946. He was a life member of the local VFW. Mr. Delk was an oil field engineer for Texas Ironworks in Houston and the Pool of San Angelo, from which he retired. He attended Angelo State University and taught high school welding in San Angelo. Mr. Delk was a Lutheran. He also was a Master Mason at Hayrick Lodge in Robert Lee, Texas, where he had served as Worshipful Master and was a Shriner. As a young man, he raced Champ cars, also known as Indy cars, and was known for his love of animals. He currently had 3 dogs and a cat in his household. Survivors include son, Robert Seaburn Delk and wife, Pamela, of Schienen, The Netherlands; sister, Dorothy Smith of Huntsville; grandchildren, John Seaburn Delk, II and wife, Melissa of Texarkana; Anna Greta Adams and husband, Brian of Texarkana, Erika Elaine Delk of Station; great-grandchildren, Abbie Taylor Adams, Mathew Seaburn Delk, Tye Clayton Adams, Franklin Waidlein Delk, Ian Patrick Delk, all of Texarkana; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Delk was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Doris Rose (Wideman) Delk in 2001; brother, Doyle (Bo); sisters, Joyce, Edith, and Dovie. Honorary pallbearer will be Don Brent. Expressions of sympathy and donations may be offered to Christ Lutheran Church, P. O. Box 5008, Texarkana, Texas 75501. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. , 12, 2010 in the Gipson Chapel.
