Obituary: William Charles Davis passed away , 1, 2017 after an extended illness. The youngest of three children of Zackie Pierce Davis and Minnie Messick Davis, he was born in Montgomery, Alabama 12, 1934. As a 1957 graduate of Auburn University, Charles earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering. losing an eye to acute glaucoma he decided to pursue the field of optics. In 1959 he graduated from Baylor School of Medicine Contact Lens Technology Program. He started his career in the field of contact lens with Joseph W. Soper in Houston, Texas. In 1960 he moved to Corpus Christi, Texas to open and manage Soper Contact Lens which he purchased and renamed Davis Contact Lens in 1961. There Charles met the love of his life, Carol Anne, who was his constant companion for 55 years. A Charter Member of the Contact Lens Society of America, Charles was awarded the distinction of Fellow. He was highly respected in the optical and ophthalmology community and made many contributions to the field of eye care. In 1961 Charles traveled to Japan to work with other colleagues, to assist with design of new equipment to manufacture and fit contact lenses. George Nissel of G. Nissel and in London, England, who developed much of the equipment designed to produce the soft contact lens became a mentor and friend. Charles fitted, manufactured, and assisted with the development of several types of contact lenses, as well as producing ocular prosthesis for patients either born without an eye or loss of eyes through accident and disease. 43 years in the industry Mr. Davis retired in 2002. Starting as a boy in Alabama and progressing with his move to Texas hunting and fishing were a lifelong passion. Whether on safari in Africa or in the brush of South Texas, Charles enjoyed every moment of the hunt. He loved traveling to Cabo San Lucas and the Eastern Cape of Baja for deep sea fishing with friends and family. Many weekends Charles would be seen heading down the National Seashore in his 1965 Land Rover to fish in the surf of Big Shell. Another lifelong passion was his mechanical and engineering ability. Charles was widely known as a true and talented craftsman and a man of many projects. Be it building beautiful furniture or machining a part on his lathe or completely rebuilding a Land Rover his home workshop was always the site of exciting and amazing things. A true Southern gentleman, Charles was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution. Other organizations include Game Conservation International and the National Rifle Association. Charles is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Carol Anne Theis Davis, two children: Kimberly Davis Stockseth (Steven) and William Clayton Davis (Julie) and three grandchildren: Samantha Elizabeth Stockseth, Denton Pierce Stockseth, and Wyatt Jackson Davis. He is also survived by his sister Virginia Davis Schmidt of Auburn, Alabama and her family. Charles is preceded in death by his parents and eldest sister Francis Davis Sherrill. The family wishes to thank Altus Hospice for their compassion and care, Dr. Aftab Mamood, Dr. Michael Neff, Wooldridge Place , and Corpus Christi Fire Department No. 13 for all the help they provided to both Mr. and Mrs. Davis. Obituary: William (Bill) Vincent Davis, Sr. passed away on , 22, 2015, after a short, and merciful, battle with Cancer. Bill was born in Philadelphia, PA on 13, 1937 to George & Jennie Davis. Bill attended Temple University, Philadelphia, on a full soccer scholarship and obtained a BA. graduation he enlisted in the USAF and attended Officer Candidate School in San Antonio, TX where he met his love, Delores. He quickly nicknamed her Dee and they were married at Biloxi Air Base in 1961. Immediately transferring to Aviano Air Base, Italy, for what Dee describes as a 2 1/2 year honeymoon. Bill was accepted into Pilot Training so it was off to Moody AFB for training in the T-37 & T-38. From there it was Davis-Monthan AFB, Arizona for F-4 School. Then off to Great Britain to fly the F-4C. a short tour in England it was then off to Viet Nam. Bill was stationed at DaNang Air Base where he flew many missions, 100 of which were North of the DMZ, thus earning a membership in the RED RIVER VALLEY FIGHTER PILOTS ASSN. Viet Nam he was stationed at Laredo AFB, Texas where he was a maintenance Test Pilot in the T-37 & T-38. In 1970 Bill & Dee left the Air Force and moved to Houston, TX where Bill worked for American Can Co. In 1976 Bill left American Can and joined Metal Container Corp., a subsidiary of Anheuser-Busch Co. He retired from there in 1993 and then went to work for PAC International, where he stayed for 5 years. In 1999, Bill & Dee really did retire and moved to Horseshoe Bay, TX. Bill was active in the choir at the Church at Horseshoe Bay and the Highland Lakes Mens Chorus. Bill loved HSB and loved riding his waverunner and boating all over Lake LBJ. Bill was preceded in death by both parents and his brother. He is survived by his loving wife, Dee Davis, and his devoted children, William V. Davis, Jr. of Columbus, OH and Melanie Dale Davis of Orlando, FL. and 4 wonderful grandchildren, Vincent, Olivia, Trey & Lela. Bill has many loving nieces, nephews, grandnieces & grandnephews who will also miss him very much. Services will be announced at a later date. Obituary: William Robert (Bob) Davis was born on 16, 1936, in Austin, Texas, to Mae and Les Davis. He passed from this life on 29, 2014. His parents, a brother, sister, and son, Bret Davis, predeceased him. Bob grew up in Austin and the surrounding area, moving to Fort Worth at age nine. He received a bachelors degree in journalism and history in 1966 from Texas Christian University in Fort Worth. He worked for the Fort Worth Star-Telegram as district manager before moving to the Midland Reporter-Telegram as circulation director. He also worked for United Press International (UPI) where he wrote several articles that were published throughout the United States. moving to Houston in the 1970s, he worked for the Houston Chronicle. He married Yolanda Garza on 18, 1983. In 1989, he began a new career as a special education teacher for Aldine ISD. Shortly after, he completed a Masters Degree in education. He retired from teaching in 2010. Bob and Yolanda purchased the Stardust Lounge in 1991, where they opened an antique shop. Bob is survived by his wife of 31 years, Yolanda, and his three daughters and their husbands, Shonda and John Carter, Michelle and Rick Arrellano, and Tonya and Gary Miller, along with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Obituary: William Richard Davis - Born on 11, 1928 in Amarillo, Texas to Laura Lucille and Bill Davis departed on 26, 2011. graduating from Alamo Heights High School at the youthful age of 16, he went on to pursue higher education at Texas A & M University. Upon graduation from Texas A & M, Davis joined the United States Air Force, where he would become an accomplished fighter pilot during the Korean War. Throughout his service during the Korean War, Davis flew 100 missions, receiving the United Nations Service Medal, Air Medal with Four Oak Leaf Clusters, Distinguished Flying Cross, National Defense Service Medal and Korean Service Medal. the completion of his diligent service to the nation, he returned to Luke Air Force Base in Glendale, Arizona, where he instructed international students in flight. He enrolled in Law School at St. Marys University, and completed his law degree in May of 1958, graduating at the top of his class and president of the Phi Delta Phi legal fraternity. Davis would enjoy a successful legal career for almost fifty years, before retiring from the Gardner Law Firm. Although his service in the Air Force and his dedication to the legal system were beloved by him, his marriage to wife Marjorie and dedication to his family remained paramount to all other interests for over fifty-nine years. Davis thrived in the family setting, as a loving husband and exemplary father, grandfather, and friend. He enjoyed sharing his musical talents on the piano and guitar with family and friends so that they could enjoy music as he did. He remained active in the Air Force reserves as a Colonel until his retirement. Davis was a hunting and fishing enthusiast and an avid tennis player for much of his life. He was also a devoted member of Christ Episcopal Church, the San Antonio Country Club, the San Antonio German Club, past-president of The Town Club, and The Downtown Rotary Club. He is survived by Marjorie, his wife of fifty-nine years; his son, William Richard Davis Jr. and wife, Laura, and his grandchildren, Charles Osborn Biedenharn Jr., William Tres Richard Davis III, Robert Ball Davis, and Thomas Christopher Davis. He was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Deborah Davis Biedenharn McMahon. An extra special thanks to his loving caregiver Nancy Acosta for her dedication and spirit, as she brought ease and comfort to him in otherwise trying times. Her intransigent encouragement for him to keep singing brought sunshine to otherwise painstaking days. He will be greatly missed. Obituary: William Earl Davis, 89, of Lumberton, Texas, passed away peacefully on , 11, 2011 at his residence. Earl was born 13, 1921 in Damon, Texas to Willie Harrison Davis and Ennie Bailey Davis. He was a former resident of Beaumont, TX and a 1940 graduate of South Park High School. He has lived in Lumberton for the last 31 years and was a member of Woodcrest United Methodist Church, also in Lumberton. Earl was a retired pipe fitter of local 195 and a World War II Navy Veteran, where he served as a machinist on a PT boat in the Mediterranean Sea. He and his wife Katie also owned and operated the Yellow Rock Square Dance Shop in Lumberton for a number of years. Earl was preceded in death by his wife of almost 61 years, Katie Adelle Davis and sons Willie Earl Bill Davis and Jimmy Lee Davis. He is survived by his next of kin, cousin, Wanda Sue Neuman and husband Wes and family of Lumberton. He is also survived by close friends, Steve and Kay Martinka and family of Kountze. Obituary: William Herbert Davis, 71 of Wimberley, Texas, passed from this life on 15, 2010 at Seton Hospital in Kyle, TX after a hard fought battle with pancreatic cancer. Bill was born on 17, 1938 in Austin, Texas to Herbert and Marybelle Davis who predeceased him. Bill was a 1956 graduate of Austin High School and a 35 year employee of Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. in Austin. He was married to Judy Schmitt Davis on 2, 1956 and they had been married for 53 years at the time of his passing. Judy was with Bill to the very end, never leaving his bedside in the final weeks of his life. Bills career with Southwestern Bell was long and productive. He was the recipient of numerous awards including the prestigious Rider Award for Outstanding Achievement. He began his career as a cable splicer and worked his way up through the ranks to the position of District Engineer before his retirement in 1991. retirement Bill started his own company, Tejas Communications, providing telecommunications contracting services to the Telephone and TxDOT among others. He was also a licensed home inspector in Texas and ran a successful inspection business in Texas and New Mexico. An avid sports fan throughout his life Bill also coached youth baseball and football in Austin. Bill was also a member of the Telephone Pioneers. Bill is survived by his wife, Judy Davis of Wimberley, TX, son and daughter-in-law Timothy and Jan Davis of Prince George, VA, daughter and son-in-law Kimberly and Mike Eubanks of Plano, TX, son and daughter-in-law David and Laura Davis of Allen TX. He is also survived by eight grandchildren; Jennifer Davis Autry of Prince George, VA, Wesley Davis of Ft.
