Obituary: DENISON - Willa Mae Davis, 90, of Denison passed away , 19, 2013 at her home. are under the direction of Bratcher . Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., , 23rd at Waples Memorial United Methodist Church in Denison, Texas with Rev. Roy Spore officiating. Interment will follow at Cedarlawn Memorial Park in Sherman. Pallbearers will be Felix Munson, Jr., Brent Eubank, Travis Munson, Mark Eubank, Felix Munson and Mike Perdue. Honorary pallbearers will be Bandy Jeffery, Lou Richards and Ray Thompson. The family visitation hours will be , 22 from 4:00 - 6:00 pm at the funeral home. Willa Mae was born May 19, 1923 to R. L. and Fern K. Kious in Sterling, Colorado where she attended school and received her associates degree. She moved to Chicago for a number of years and later moved to Denison where she met her husband, L. T. Doc Davis and they married in 1955. Willa Mae loved her church and had been active there for many years. She loved doing community work and served on several boards, including Keep Denison Beautiful and Denison Service League. She was also a member of the Garden Club, Review, Monodrama, Camp Sandy Point, and several bridge groups. She had played bridge with some of the ladies for over 40 years. Willa Mae will be remembered among friends for always doing for others, offering kind words of encouragement and always having a hot meal prepared for her family and anyone else who happened to drop by. She enjoyed working in her flower gardens and her legacy is passed down to her daughters and granddaughters. Surviving are her daughters Lori Munson and husband, Felix, Cathy Eubank and husband, Mark; step-son Tommy Davis and wife Sherry. Grandchildren are Felix Munson, Jr. and wife Lisa, Regina Munson, Travis Munson, Melanie Eubank Jeffrey and husband Bandy, Brent Eubank and fiancée Katie Sparkman, Emily Davis Brown and husband, Robert. Great-grandchildren are Thomas and Madelyn Munson, Ansley Mae Jeffrey, Julie Ann, Thomas and Turner Brown. A special thank you to her caregivers who will always be special to the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Waples Memorial United Methodist Church, 830 W. Main Street, Denison TX and Grayson Hospice, 505 W. Street, Sherman TX. Obituary: Wilburn Lee Davis, 83 of San Angelo, Texas went home to his Heavenly Father on 1, 2013. Wilburn was born 11, 1930 to Sidney Estes Davis and Maebelle Boyer south of Ballinger, Texas. At age six, his family moved to the Branch place. Wilburn graduated Ballinger High School in 1947 and in 1948 enlisted in the United States Navy. boot camp in San Diego, California, he was stationed at the Naval Air Station in Corpus Christi. There he was assigned to All Weather Flight School under the supervision of John Glenn, who would later achieve fame as an astronaut. While stationed in Corpus Christi, Wilburn began attending a small Baptist church near the naval base where he met his beloved bride, Myrtis Ellinor Harris, who he married on 1, 1954. Their union was blessed by four children, seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Wilburn began his career as a newspaperman while still at the Naval Air Station, writing articles about servicemen for their hometown newspapers. He spent his last 10 months of duty during the Korean War stationed in Adak, Alaska, where he produced the bases daily newspaper. his discharge from the Navy in 1951, Wilburn headed home to Texas and began attending the University of Corpus Christi, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree. His career in the newspaper business spanned nearly three decades and included positions as an ad compositor at the Corpus Christi Caller-Times; in the offices of the Mena Star in Mena, Arkansas; and as editor of the Mathis News in Mathis, Texas. the last of their four children graduated high school in 1979, Wilburn and Myrtis returned to his hometown of Ballinger. In 1981, he was appointed by the Commissioners to complete a term as Justice of the Peace of Runnels . He was publicly re-elected to this position several times, serving more than 11 years. In 2002, Wilburn and Myrtis moved to San Angelo, Texas and became faithful members of Belmore Baptist Church. Wilburn devoted many years of service as a deacon at Belmore and at other churches including Seventh Street Baptist Church in Ballinger. Wilburn was preceded in death by his parents and brother Jerry Lynn Davis. Wilburn is survived by his wife of 59 years, Myrtis Ellinor Harris; brother Weldon Gene Davis of Ballinger; children: Lee Wayne Davis (Cindy) of Brenham, TX, Glenn Ray Davis (Kathy) of Euless, TX, Pamela Sue Buffington (Larry) of Smithville, OK, and Kenneth Dale Davis (Ann) of Bristol, VA; grandchildren: Dylan Buffington, Justin Davis, Devin Vergason, Krystal Davis, Amy Ross, Katie Davis, and Abi Davis; great-grandchildren: Grayer Davis, Judah Vergason, Jaxon Ross, Griffin Davis, and Davis Vergason. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on , 8, 2013 at Belmore Baptist Church in San Angelo. Burial will follow at Evergreen in Ballinger. |

Wes married Norma Jean McDaniels on 28, 1948 in Clovis NM. Together they raised three daughters, ran a plumbing business and became the patriarch and matriarch of five grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter. also welcomed into the family home, at various times, five foster children and two nephews. retirement, Wes and Norma caught the RV bug and spent many enjoyable years traveling and making lasting friendships. The two of them then coupled their obsession with RVs and fishing when they bought and operated an RV park at Lake Towakani. eventually returned to Amarillo. Wes was Normas faithful care-giver for the last five years of her life. She died 13, 2007. On his own for the first time in sixty years, Wes found comfort in his girls. He donned his dancing shoes once again. It was at a dance that he met his special companion of the last five years, Margaret Sims. He took up golfing in his seventies. He lived his life as he chose to - fully and independently. He was predeceased by his parents, three sisters, Billie Morrison, Essie Yandell and Myrt Romines; and by his two brothers, Wilburn and Roy. Survivors include his daughters Donna Kerr and husband Ronnie, Darla Mueller and husband Cecil and Diana (Deanie) Davis. His grandchildren have been blessed and will continue to be blessed by their memories of Poppa; Perry Lyn (Pip) Thomas and husband J.J., Lori Jean Law and husband Greg, Kean Kelly Kerr and wife Chalice, Katherine Sue (Katy) Mitchell and husband Derek and Kenneth Dean (Kenny) Mueller. Wes is also survived by eleven great grandsons, Clayton, Brandon, R. J., McKean, Mark, Jordan, Nick, Jarod, Ryker, Daniel and Larson; two great granddaughters, Victoria and Reagan; and one great great granddaughter Skyler. In addition, Wes was gifted with a very special niece, Sharon Bach and numerous other nieces and nephews. The daughters ask that any memorial in Wess name be to the Holy Cross Catholic Tuition Fund in care of Holy Cross Catholic Academy, 4110 South Bonham Street, Amarillo, TX 79110, so that even in death his passion for education continues. |
