Obituary: Martha Adado Dakil, 93, of Plano, Texas entered peacefully into the Lords heavenly gates on May 9, 2017, in her home where she was surrounded by her loving grandchildren. Mrs. Dakil is the daughter of the late Kamil and Alice Adado who were both born in Lebanon. Mrs. Dakil was born 18, 1923 in Lansing, Michigan, where she was raised and where she met the love of her life, Arthur Dakil. Mr. Dakil served as Lebanons longtime honorary consul in Dallas where the couple settled in the early 1960s. Once in Dallas, Martha became an independent real estate agent, helping to support her family. Martha loved to spend time with friends and family. She was famous for her cooking, and everyone was welcome at her table. Martha was talented with most cuisines, but her specialty was Lebanese food. Her stuffed grape leaves, kibbeh, and baklava garnered raves and requests for recipes from family and friends alike. She also loved to play gin rummy and backgammon. All who were fortunate enough to have known Martha will remember her selflessness, generosity, kindness, strength, love of family, and beautiful laughter. Although Martha is in heaven, her spirit endures through her grandson, Michael Dakil, in his love of nature, granddaughter Ashley Dakil, in her generous and caring spirit, and grandson Matthew Dakil, in his love for culture. Martha was preceded in death by her loving husband, Arthur F. Dakil; her son, Floyd Dakil; her siblings, Selwa Sally Ellis, Adele Albert, Ruth Lupino, Virginia Ansara, Louis Adado, and Louise Shaheen. Martha is survived by five loving grandchildren-Ashley Dakil of Plano, TX; Michael Dakil of Kona, Hawaii; Matthew Dakil of Dallas, TX; Gary Dakil of Granbury, TX, and Bryan Kip Dakil of Plano, TX. She is also survived by six great grandchildren along with her siblings, Vera Shanker of Little Rock, AR; Madonna Mickie Mokarzel of Lansing, MI; and Betty Lou Bobby Cushman of Lansing, MI. Martha was also a loving friend and dedicated aunt, great aunt, godmother, cousin, and great grandmother to an extended family who affectionately knew her as Siti, for she was truly a Grand Mother who touched the lives of countless people. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital. Join the Dakil Family in remembering and celebrating the life of Martha. A Memorial Mass will be held at the North Chapel of Calvary Hill on , May 16, 2017 at 10 a.m., followed by a reception in the event room of Calvary Hill . |

Mrs. Dake, the daughter of Wesley William & Pinkney Nipp Chappell, was born May 24, 1951, in Paris. She worked a number of years as a nurse’s aide and a cook.
