Obituary: John D. Dykes, 70 of Newbern, Tennessee died on , 23, 2015, at his residence in Newbern, Tennessee. Born , 3, 1945 in Dyer , Tennessee, he was the son of the late David Dykes and the late Louise Brock Dykes Roberson. He was a retired farmer, former employee of Monsanto, former member of the Newbern Volunteer Fire Department, served his country in the Tennessee National Guard Reserve and was a member and former President of the Newbern Saddle Club. services for Mr. Dykes will be 11:00 AM on , 26, 2015 in the Chapel of Johnson-Williams with Rev. Ronnie Turner and Rev. Tommy Jowers officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview in Newbern, Tennessee. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Johnson-Williams . He is survived by his wife, Threase Oliver Dykes of Newbern, Tennessee; one daughter, Carol Dykes Meeks (Scott) of Halls, Tennessee; two step-daughters, Fara Wallace (Chad) of Tipton , Tennessee and Lynsey Butler (Derrick) of Newbern, Tennessee;one son, Dale Dykes (Cheraton) of Dyersburg, Tennessee; four sisters, Peggy Barkes of Dowagiac, Michigan, Barbara Wells (Tom) of Dyersburg, Tennessee, Alice Muzzell of Jacksonville, Florida and Julie Daniels (Billy) of Dyersburg, Tennessee and eleven grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Joe Cowell, Jimmy Winters, Terry Harris, Sammy Steelman, Bobby Dudley and Gerald Tidwell.
